My gear aquisition syndrome has made me do it again ! just gone and took a punt on a little pb20 bass , two things i love in this world are my PB50 and my short scale basses . if the neck is anywhere as nice as my pb and its short scale i have got a feeling that i am going to have a gas with this littleun. I promise i will ignore the little demon on my shoulder that tells me to buy from now on !..........i promise........mind you the JB looks nice as well...

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Congrats, I really love my Shorty P. It's strung with LaBella flats, and along with the Ibanez Mikro, they give me all the tones I need while sitting in front of the PC.

I am looking forward to it big time. and so is my lad. if its as tiny as it looks it should be just his size. are the pups acceptable ? i love the sound of the wilkinson one in my pb50 and was half tempted to do a swap on the shorty for the wilkinson modern p bass equivalent if they will fit

I believe that the pickups were changed somewhere along the line, mine is about 5 or 6 years old (I think), not sure what the pickup is like now.
I will say that I swapped my pickup for a DiMarzio that I had spare. When I needed it for another bass (part of a PJ set) I planned on getting a Duncan. While waiting, I put the stock pickup in and was so happy with the tone that I cancelled the Duncan order.

well it came today. setup was really quite bad with a dent on the headstock With corresponding damage on the inner guitar box (looks like it was "B" stock because it was a shelf casualty) Jac you were spot on ! the pups are good for price. after lowering the strings the adjusting the truss rod to take care of the strings that were rattling even on the original ridiculosly high string height setting i managed to get it to really rather nice ! but unfortunateley being a very big fella 6ft 4 and way too much weight to admit to, i find all the boxes ticked except the actual size of the body. if it were near a p bass sized body with that neck it would be awesome ( just my own silly opinion and very much a personal prefererence). but after all the minor minor niggles thomman actually gave me a free extra in the box that is worth more than any guitar ever sold ! included free of charge was the fact that my son could pck it up and the size and action actually brought his playing as a learner on 10 fold. i heard him play a song that he had been struggling with for weeks on first go ! he loves it ! so therefore it has actually become his first guitar as a gift. i have whacked a set of coloured strings on it as a funky extra and learning aid (as in green string 2nd fret etc)i even dared to ask if i could have a quick go and he replied "yes dad , be careful with it, do not knock or scratch it or there will be trouble !" i am delighted and he is even more delighted.

Owned a couple of strats and it feels smaller in my humble opinion. Feels like there is a lot less height , the length is around the same as well as the depth. May be that I have just come so far away from normal 6 string guitar on to something chunkier that I have just lost the feel for something smaller. Recently played a mates strat and it blew my brain as to how delicate and close together the strings were. Really ought to dust off my 6 strings and start playing them again and avoid becoming a fully fledged bassist. Lol
