Playing the Blue Turbosound and it sounds awesome on low volumes but as soon I push it goes boxy/muddy (both with humbuck and single coils/P90s) Then took out the Kustom amp out of the amp box so only the 12" Speaker was left with a totally open back. Play it and even though it sounds OK-ish it leaves my ears annoyed even on low volumes. It sounded so-soin the Kustom amp and it sounded so-so in the Bugera (as an external cabinet) Tried all sorts of pedal combinations that have EQ options and ... nah, they both have too much Mids hence the boomines Im sure. The HB CG-15 has a tiny box closed back and yet the bass and trebble are so well balanced on my Goldfoil but less so on the Mid and Bridge single coils. Im sure I can find a speaker for Bugera that suits my taste better and it seems Jensen is the way to go judging by the reviews. I think I will try and pull the trigger next month and get me some Jensen goodness (hope its not too shrill sounding )

Maybe I just need an EQ pedal instead! See this vid about Bugera V5 with an EQ pedal

I havent read that saltee, thanks for posting it! I am a butcher when it comes to soldering or anything electric and dont feel confident at all to do such mods I know its stupid of me because its so cheap to do it. I think I will probably buy a Jensen speaker to get some more Highs and Lows and less mids ... or should i just get the cheapo EQ pedal from Aliexpress ...

Is this mod going to help then? I thought the muddiness was coming when you turned up the dials papache . Correct! The muddiness and boxyness shows when I use more Gain (knob) than Volume (knob) and when turning up the volume in general. But! this speaker is on the warmer side lacking in highs which I would get with my NUX OD that has an onboard Tone Knob, So Bugera's Tone Knob all the way up and NUX OD Tone Knob all the way up would make it work but still on lower volumes (which are fine for recording). BUT I just tested the Aroma G-Fuzz on Bugera and Im not impressed with this Bugera speaker at all. Very dull tone. This pedal sounds more like a distortion when plugged direct into Bugera. But when I add the OD after the fuzz then I can get into Fuzz territory ... but muddy sounding ... This speaker has to go! I need this amp to be versatile, to be able to play both clean and dirty without worrying about tone getting muddy if I turne up the Gain. Lets put it this way; When the G-Fuzz pedal arrived I played into the HB CG-15 amp with a 6 inch speaker and the fuss was driving the amp into fuzz land so well it was turning my face into a huge smile and my wife passed by so i asked if she thinks this sound was annoying (on low volume) and she said "no, its fine" (strange for a girl that loves James Blunt and similar) but then later I plugged that same pedal into Bugera and after 15 minutes she asked me to stop immediately because she felt dizzy and nauseous because of that sound. I do agree with her I was struggling to achieve the same lovely tone I previously had on my Deacy ... ehm ... HB-CG15 amp .

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

I often place my fuzz before and after an overdrive and after compression to get fuzzy sustain. By sending your fuzz into a gainy little amp you are essentially doing the same thing. I also love my fuzz into a phaser, it gives it loads of expressive movement.

I did stack the Fuzz with NUX OD and it did help go into fuzz land but the muffling buffy muddy tone was there ... I will get the Jensen speaker and keep the Blue Turbosound speaker for creamy clean tones. Its easy to swap speakers once you have them.

Yes. Muddiness at max gain suggests the treble cap solution wouldnt be enough. I hope a speaker replacement does it for you. Otherwise your tone chase will continue. Next stop a class A/B tube amp with 12inch speaker
