Not heavy enough either . If I remember rightly the Bullet has a full depth body unlike the Affinity so makes a better modding platform. That's the last time I checked anyway. These things seem to keep changing with Squiers. I have three of those Stop Dreaming Start Playing pack strats which aren't Bullets or anything else but have full depth bodies and feel great. Pickups on one were fantastic. One was so-so and one was ARGHHH!

Yep I had a standard Squier a while ago and the pups were also a bit so-so but the one in the vid sounds pretty impressive. I'm now getting the urge to mod a cheapo Bullet into a vintage Strat after watching this. 🙉🙈🙊

Just got given what I think is a Squier Affinity from the stop dreaming packs. Light as a feather and very playable. Sounds ok through my Alto which is more for acoustics

The Affinity says 'Affinity' on the headstock and is a bit thinner than a standard strat. If it just says 'Squier Strat' on the 'stock then it is one of those pack ones and they're great bases for modding. Ceramic pickups but nice and clean sounding. Really Leo Fender wanted his guitars to sound super clean so he'd be happy to hear you're playing through an acoustic amp.

It's a bullet - just checked the headstock - bad rattle from the open G - nut problem? Needs new strings and the pickup selector is a bit temperamental - not bad for nowt

It sounded decent while in clean, but the "overdriven" sound was pretty similar to pile of hot buttocks. I seriously hope that it was the fault of mic/pedal.
By the way, what's the song at 3:00 mark? Henning played it as well in his strats shootout.

dodger possibly yes....I had a similar problem with the D string on my semi hollow so used the string as a file and fixed the problem. For unwound strings try some needle files or 600 grit sandpaper and gently go over the slot a few times. Check the saddle also to see if there are any burrs and if so gently sand or file them till smooth. Banana....I think he's going for a kind of Frusciante "grimy" sound with a muff pedal on the lead tones which can sound harsh (and beautiful) at the same time. I'm pretty sure he's playing a John Mayer tune at 3:00 not sure which one.
