Even Henning cannot make this amp sound good. Probably sounds better in person. But what I find interesting is the fact that Fender actually employed him to do this demo. I mean he's hardly been a Fender fanboy for their amps or guitars in the past.
And it's doubly surprising because the excellent Shane from InTheBlues who has been a terrific supporter of the Mustang III in the past hasn't been likewise employed to demo it. Even though he is dropping the hints strongly on his own channel that he would welcome a chance to review it. In fact Shane's patches for the Mustang are among the most downloaded and he's done more than most to promote the capabilities of the previous models of amp.
I wonder if Fender in Australia have taken the hump because he has been very open recently about criticizing their guitar pricing there?
If that was the case it would be a poor reflection of how Fender runs it's on-line/social marketing. It's possible they delegate decisions to local sales regions and the team in Europe decided to go with Henning but the team in Asia Pacific are ignoring InTheBlues. That would be a poor reflection of a company that should recognise that this kind of marketing should be global and the audiences for those channels are global.
Anyway..just my thoughts.
Here's the video - at least the guitars are cool.

The presets are pretty cheesy... It's the same with BiasFX and jamup...the presets are crap so I delete them all and start with just a good amp tone first then add effects after. The GT100 watt version comes in well over £300 compared to the Boss Katana 100 at around £250 so Boss gets a thumbs up from me.

Stupid question but if the name GP-Acoustics was on the amp instead of Fender would we even give it a seconds notice. (Although to be fair GP also owns Celestion and KEF and produce some great audio related products).

Shane from intheblues - who has been a big Mustang III supporter in the past, has canned it. He spent his own cash buying a Mustanf GT to demo and has now returned it - buying a blues Jr. instead.
Looks like Fender has dropped the ball big time with this new iteration of the amp.

Henning has another video up on the GT-40. I guess he gives it a thumbs up as a desktop/small practice amp but he's not overly enthusiastic. Shane's main beef is that it's no better (and indeed possibly worse) than the older models. Fender are obviously making a pitch for the smartphone generation. That's grand and lots of us like to tinker but most of the good guitar players I know prefer to plug in and play rather than mess with settings and bluetooth gizmos etc. I know I should spend more time practicing rather than messing about with sundry other guitar related shyte. Maybe that will be my mid-year resolution.

I listened to every patch demoed by Henning using monitor headphones and was not impressed at all really. Maybe two or three sounded sort of okay. Although it is possible that the reason for this is that the speakers were not 'played in' yet. I have been loosely following the reaction to this new series in other forums and generally it is not good news. Many buyers are returning them for various reasons. And if you have an Android device you can only use the Fender Tone Bluetooth connectivity feature if it is running the latest V6 or thereabouts.
I have an older 20 watt Mustang and the stock presets it came with were terrible (for my liking) but found some good ones in the Fender Fuse community and tweaked a few of my own. Although some presets will sound better or worse with different guitars. For a budget priced practice amplifier it serves its purpose well and is good value for money I think. I mostly use it with headphones.

That reaction at 5:20 made me chuckle and want to hear a lot more from him.
