sooo... second review in this forum...lets see. (paperbag)
I ordered the EX-84 as an
B-Stock guitar...
something i dont recommend due to the fact you save 10 bucks but will have issues like i had that took me 2 hours to eliminate.
(btw if you got issues with your guitar feel free to ask, maybe i can help.)
but after all that it is a great guitar. Its black...all black,Hardware just everything...oh wait, the nut is white, but why?!!
thats something i will have too change in the future because it looks odd.
And because its high gloss black its almost impossible to keep it clean.
The guitar is not diving when you strap it which is really nice!
its comfortable to play and the guitar got a loud resonance.
The Pickups..oh my...they got too much of everything.
Played with a tube amp (no noise gate) you will get constant feedback and noise.
I had to tweak it just like the RX-40 and now its wonderful. no need for EMGs,in fact i like the HBZ better.
watch here for the tweak:
they work with a 9volt battery that comes with the package. it can be changed without any tool on the backside of the guitar
The neck is a nice C-shape neck, not thin and not fat.
Its not a heavy guitar, but it doesnt feels like a toy,too..hm....feels like a 600 Euro guitar i would say. defintely better than any epiphone i had.
Strapped on you immediately start to make the james Hetfield and think "hell yeah"
The HBZ pickups are great for metal! i will try to make a video with clean tones, although thats not their area of operation..they can deliver that too.
overall im again very pleased with this guitar, you just cant beat what you get for the price.
something i want to say..the pickups are actives but they work in contrast to EMGs with 500kohm pots. so if you want to put passive PU in that guitar,no problem at all.
hm...i hope i didnt forget something. otherwise i will edit.
Feel free to ask whatever you want to know or if you want Pics or anything else.
Cheers
