Am I really bad at looking or does this simply not exist? Would prefer not having a block of plastic and metal in my acoustic instruments to ruin the resonance.

I just checked both these lines and there doesn't appear to be that option... It's funny, I think most folk here (me and dodger for sure) are looking for a non-cutaway with electrics, of which there is one and that's the CLD-41SE.

marit - as you know I'm no fan of a cutaway asthetically and I'll rarely venture that far up the fretboard. Have been tempted by the CLA15M with the cutaway but would prefer a full body and my CLA28VE is fulfilling my small shallow body guitar needs! DefJef - think the (relatively) cheap preamps are so attractive becasue you're then set to attend open mics or gig and can just plugg in and not worry about getting the guitar mic'd 70s style. Anyone looking to record acoustically though would surely use a condenser mic...

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

And even if they do, most pub venues are not so large that an acoustic guitar needs plugging into anything at all. I seem to remember in the dim and distant past singing Scarborough Fair in a large assembly hall at school with my music teacher doing his best Paul Simon on the acoustic and no amps were required. Add in the nastiness of a piezo and there's a lot to be said for not having one.

There's a few pubs in town that host trad stuff and that never needs plugged in. In the bar we play in on Saturday we wouldn't be heard if unplugged DefJef - sometimes it's hard to be heard through the PA...they're a noisey bunch - sometimes they even listen! Piezos are very zingy or quacky - I'd much prefer the natural tone of my guitar but mic'ing it isn't practical.

Zoom has a very good pedal for acoustic guitars you could run the piezo through and emulate natural guitar sound which goes into PA

Thanks @chedapapa - I've heard the inexpensive Behringer acoustic pedal is pretty good too

I'm almost certain the little lump of plastic and metal has no audible impact on the response of the guitar. Absolutely wrong*, you can blindfold me and have me strum one without touching the body and I can tell immediately. And internal microphone is like sandpaper to me, absolutely insufferable - I always record miced up. *Actually you're somewhat right, it's not in the attack but in the sustain. There's a slight resonant unpleasantness in the ring and the sustain of the mids is shorter.

lofty you must be some audiophile; my ears can't separate nuances like that although I did have a bit of a rattle on my electro-acoustic and wondered if it had anything to do with either the battery box or pickup - think it was due to having lighter strings on than it was shipped with though. Strangely too my CLD41SE is quite the mid sustainer!

I like cutaways and has the same problem, theres no cutaways without piezo. I would prefer an electro magnetic picup.
