Hi Guys, finally i did it! i ordered my first HB. A small acoustic guitar: www.thomann.de/de/harley_benton_custom_line_cla_28v.htmI am really looking forward to this guitar and wanted to get one before the rosewood stock is sold. Apparently they now only make walnut. I don´t know whats better, but i think rosewood will sell better if it is discontinued. Anybody got this guitar or a similar one? When i get it, i will post pics and a report!

johnnyo - I have this guitar and easyrider has one too - I think some other members may own one. It's a great sofa guitar and really light and airy both in physical form and sound. The sound is very focussed and tight to my ears and mine hasn't really started to open up yet. Very comfortable to play. It's a good bit thinner in body than a dreadnought. Great value for money: I played a few Taylor GS Mini guitars which have very similar spec and think the CLA28V is a much better guitar. The GS Mini is around £650, my CLA28VE was bstock so was £400 cheaper. I think it would be ideal for recording as the sound is so clean and focussed both finger picking and strummed. I'm going to gig with mine this weekend - think it will be about 8 times I've used it; normally use my CLD41SE as it's my go-to guitar that can handle everything and sounds amazing both plugged in and unplugged (to my ears anyway).

I have seen one old video you posted. You played with a band in the pub. It was very cool.

Hi Guys, i now have been owning the CLA-28v RW for some weeks and wanted to give my feedback for those who think about buying one.
Appearance: the guitar has got a considerably smaller body than a dreadnought, it has no binding around the neck (whick bothers me somehow). The body is not only smaller, it is much thinner than a regular size guitar´s. this means, at first it feels somehow toylike in your hands. it got a satin finish and for me, it makes the whole top feel very thin, almost paperlike. i´d go for glossy if that was available. Mine is pretty well made, no material flaws, good action, no problems with the saddle etc., the sides of the RW fretboard including the dots are not polished in the area where the fretboard is inside the body, but ok, who cares. Altogether, for me the appearance is very good for the price. Sound: You know the sound of an awesome acoustic guitar when single notes sound really full and round -- like a drop of mercury looks?? That is not the sound of the CLA 28.Its hard to describe, there is really nothing wrong with the sound, its just a little dull. There is nothing that makes you feel really excited listening to it. At my visit to thomann i played a 3799 € Taylor which was not much better, but also a 800 € Takamine which was a lot better and a 2xxx € Martin which was another universe soundwise. On the one hand, for its price, this is an excellent guitar, on the other hand, depending on your budget, you only got so much time for playing the guitar in your life, so maybe choose only one guitar, but one that really touches you. just my 2 cents. so i really disagree when people say: does it sound 10 times better? No, so i take the cheap one. a small difference in tone can make you happy for decades (or annoy you, at any price range), i think its not quantifieable like on a linear y-axis.
sorry for mistakes in my english.

Your English is superb - I know what you mean when you say toylIke - it's just so light. I think mine sounds better plugged in. Haven't had a chance to record it but think the crispness of the sound would really come through. It's the perfect sofa guitar too. Defnitely a guitar that improves with more playing - aren't they all?

Do try experiencing with different strings. I didn't like the EXP-16's much either that come stock on the guitars. Try some 80/20 D'Addarios, perhaps a lighter gauge will make it sound less dull. Strings can do a lot to the tone of a guitar. I recently put Martin M140 strings (80/20 .012 gauge) on the CLD-41SE (they cost less than 4 euros) and I love how it sounds!

Yes Yohnnyo, it sounds little bit dull but if it wasn't it would be equal with 3xxx Taylor. Fortunately you are damn right, this guitar is two times worse than Taylor, not ten times as shown on price tag. Maybe even 1,5 times.

I played the CLA 16 Spruce and the CLD 15 Dread Mahogani and both sounded better when I tuned the strings down half to whole step. The sustain suddenly was much better especially on the higher frets! I would suggest tuning it down or adding different gauge strings, thinner strings maybe.
