PJ, definitely. MM basses are very cool, but they're kind of a one trick pony, they have THAT sound and not much else. Ps and PJs even more, might have a little less striking tone, but are very versatile and sit in everything.

Personally I would go for the PJ, but I can't really give them a fair comparison as I haven't played the M just read reviews and comments by others that say it is rather heavy and the neck is pretty chunky (which is the reason I haven't tried one out).
Regarding sounds, you should be able to get pretty much anything you want from either of them, depending on technique and EQ. Maybe the PJ could offer more of the classic "P" tone than the M, but other than that, you should be able to tweak either to taste.

Bad news. Just bought the M because of my girlfriend and just recieved last saturday. It's really beautiful but its heavy as hell. The sound is not bad for a 130€ bass. The problem is the pickup. One control of the pickup is terrific noisy and that control is badly mounted. Going now to contact thomann and now i have chance to choose what to do. Another M or change to the PJ.

And btw, what's the weight of the PJ? I thought it was 4.2kg the M and 4.6kg the PJ

I don't know what the weight is, but they will also vary from instrument to instrument.
Sorry to hear about the bad pot, hope it gets sorted soon.

Hi. My new bass just arrived yesterday. It feels good, its not heavy as the last one, but the finish of the neck is really really bad. More feedback later.
