Hi, new guy here. I am looking forward to buy a strato-like HB but I'm stucked between these 3 guitars. I do like the vintage white very much so optically I would prefer the st-62. But I'm asking me if i should choose the maple or the rosewood fretboard. If I'm right the specs of these two are almost identical and the only difference seems to be the fretboard material. Is rosewood superior to maple or shouldn't I give a damn to it? Personally I don't like the rosewood vaneer of the ST-70 Rosewood but I has this wilkinson trem. Can anybody tell me if there is a big diffence between the tremolos of the st-62 and st-70 series? Am I overlooking something and is the st-70 perhaps a major upgrade over the ST62? Any help would be appreciated. Thx in advance

Ok... The ST-70 is out for I don't like this rosewood veneer and a guy at Thomann mentioned a couple of minutes ago, that Wilkenson has some major quality issues. Therefore it looks that T sorts Wilkenson products out and the Wilkenson tremolo was the only thing I was interested in regarding the ST-70.
So I just have to figure out if I should take
a) the ST-62 MN VW Vintage (with a glued on maple fretboard) or b) the ST-62 RW VW Vintage (with a glued on rosewood fretboard)
Any advices about strength or weaknesses of these two versions?

The rosewood is not a real rosewood, but they said "blackwood" is it.Pinus Radiata.Unfortunetly i don't know how it's work in guitar. The lacked maple fretboard need less care than the rosewood, which is not lacked. This maple is easy to clean more than a nature wood. And of course can decide your taste also. It would be a solve the problem if you buy both of two guitars

As i heard Roswell pickups have a widest supply than Wilkinson.Cory Mura said in a video, they have approximetly 60 types of humbuckers, and so one... And they have good price also.In a compare videos i can't decide which is better, they rather just different sounded. But who cares i will swap it with EMGs as soon as possible

...It would be a solve the problem if you buy both of two guitars LOL ... Shouldn't do that because there are plenty other guitars on the list! Thx again. If there are no other differences I have to think it over then... Dark fretboard (which looks a bit better imho) but ugly salami pickguard vs. maple fretboard plus white pickguard... Somewhat difficult...

The ST70 is probably more expensive due to the Wilkinson trem and the veneer no doubt. The Wilkinson trem has steel saddles and a full size zinc block compared to the unbranded small zinc block in the ST62s however any trem should work fine as long as the nut, bridge and string trees are well lubed. It's basically down to aesthetics and which one you prefer. Some folk believe maple necks sound brighter than rosewood but I don't hear it except when unplugged a maple board to my ears does have more bite to it. But seeing as the 62 rosewood board is now (dyed) pine the last sentence is irrelevant 😬. Good luck

I love my ST-62MN Black which is now modded with brown 4 ply tort guard, Ironstone Silver pups and G&L PBS 7 way harness perfect frets, perfect body-neck fit, all works as it should and now I have a guitar which is in the class of much more expensive brands (even better imho)

Glad to hear that you are satisfied with your st-62. Hope that I will get a good one, too... In my first HB experience I ordered a white and a black dc custom. Both of them were B-stocks because these colors seem to be oop (?). I had to send the white one back due to several dead tones on the fretboard and because it was simply impossible to get a proper intonation. The black one has several optical flaws and some minor intonation issues too, but nevertheless it's fun to play and with its grover tuners it is good enough for the 129 Euros I paid for it. Hope that the non-B-stock ST-62 would be better..
