Hey all, I'm new here having just bought a JA-60 2 days ago- I bought it primarily as a modding platform to try things out but I really like the guitar, the P90s sound brilliant! Anyway, I didn't care for the finish so I took mine back to bare wood (heat gun method)- was quite surprised the sunburst is just a transfer and peels right off, luckily the wood underneath was pretty nice. I added a step of scorching the basswood to make it a bit more interesting and then stained it with a nice walnut finish. Peeled the top layer off the scratchplate with a tiny bit of heat from the gun and lots of patience. Couple of coats and a few rounds of sanding and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Its rough and ready but I kinda dig that! Its now tuned to C and sounds really huge. Looking forward to playing this at volume through my Orange Thunderverb 200 Great job. I'm now tempted to do ths with mine.

Lucky you, I saw 4 or 5 pcs at first glance, but on the bare wood pic, it looks like only 2.... nice body anyway and nice job

I have a Yamaha body made from about 6 pieces. All good. That can't be good for the poor "tone wood" Broken up wood grain Must be full of tone pain ... and so on ...
