So the nut was raised, and didn't look very stable. It's now been fixed (with a shim behind it) and the slots were sorted (they weren't horrible, but weren't correct). (Thomann gave me a discount)

I would like to know how to easily pop out the nut from LP style guitars without damaging the wood? What tool etc ?

Well that looks a whole lot better. Well done guitared . Did the nut pop out ok? What did you discover under it? Thank you - I wish I could take the credit - that would have go to do Noden Guitars though. I would like to know how to easily pop out the nut from LP style guitars without damaging the wood? What tool etc ? As far as I understand, all you do is tap it out with the likes of a screwdriver head, but given the state of mine, I thought it was best to let a professional do it .

I suspect that if I were to replace the nut with a better one (though this one seems pretty sound tbh), if the nut slots weren't so deep, I wouldn't need the shim, but it's definitely more stable now, so I'm happy with it.
