I need a bass! Who doesn't ?! But I need a short scale as long scale I find uncomfortable to play, being a guitard and all that Any way, I need to know if the frets are medium jumbo or are they thinner than that (I hope not) ? I will post future questions in this thread!

Also what ya think of 40-95 HB strings? I read good reviews! Good bad , passable? I will play it with fingers or with a skin pick so relative soft picking in case you need that info.

I don't know the specifications of medium jumbo frets but when I measure them on my shorty's they average on 2.95 millimeters wide and 1.4 millimeters high (from the fingerboard). Strings: I use these Höfner short scale roundwound strings on all my short scale bases, if the HB strings are the same as the ones that are on stock they are utter crap!

Surely a short scale requires a heavier gauge string in order to get a bit of tension. 45s-100s are generally supplied on Thomann's standard scale basses so why do they go lighter with a short scale, adding to the floppiness? No, the longer the scale the thicker the string needs to be to get an identical feel.

I put a set of HB 40-95's on my shorty and they're definitely better than the stock strings but not that good. I'm definitely going to upgrade. They're really good for how cheap they are but quite noisy and a bit rough on the fingertips. I'll probably try the Hofners Blablas suggested.
