Hi guys, since I sent back the Vaporizer I thought again what I was really looking for (yeah, I know ... ). so I have a Laney IRT Studio which is great for crunch and overdriven sounds. This will reside in my "studio". I only play at home and I would like to have a second amp that I could take with me to a buddy to jam along. So I thought having an affordable solid-state amp with great cleans would be great (probably with a nice OD pedal in front of it). I read all the threads here but couldn´t find a solution so here I ask again. Which amp would you recommend for a budget up to 200 EUR used, that has: - SolidState amp - Great cleans - 20w or 40w (or needs to have great tone dialed down as I won´t play gigs in the near future) - 10" or 12" speaker - Reverb - Speaker out (optional) - FX loop (optional) - Line in and Headphones out (nice to have) I was looking for newer amps at Vox VT40x, Fender Mustang III, Katana 50 as well as Fender Champion 40 but also at Kustom amps. The KONG SolidThirty can be had for quite a low budget directly from Session and has a nice review out there. Do you have any recommednations where to look at? The amp can be used and I don´t mind if it is an older model (as I read that e.g. the Fender Champ series from before 2000 has a much better build quality than the current models).

I had a VOX DA5 Mini and I really hated it - I guess because of the small speakers.
So 10" or 12" speaker is a must.

Thanks, I will monitor this but since it already has 7 bids I guess it will not be under 100 EUR in the end. Let´s see.

Also - the Boss Katana 50 is probably the best value amp for €200 out there. The cleans are not Fenderish out of the box but you can set it up so the default clean is a Fender Twin or Pro-reverb. As I said before though - it is a Swiss army knife and you might find something else you prefer if all you want is a single blade.
One thing I will say about the 50 is that it is a very nice size and very portable - even with a 12 inch speaker. And it is very well built and solid too (as you would expect from Roland/Boss...who have a very strong record of building tough giggable amps.....loved by buskers the world over).
There is a B-Stock for sale on Thomann for €185 right now. Even better value.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

I'm glad you posted this DerAlex , it has prompted me to take my Blackstar apart again and I can confirm, as I previously thought I experienced, it does sound better with the top panel off. I'm definitely modding this box soon. I'll be cutting a slot in the back - possibly on a hinge so I can close it like this: and wiring in a footswitch jack socket so I can switch between channels or presets. Then to make it more lovable? Hmm, get rid of that nasty plastic name plate, some metal corner pieces, a tolex cover of some sort (or vinyl or maybe a paint job) and a Vaporizer shaped front panel ought to fix that. I'm on a roll!

Was almost sold on the Blackstar ID:Core 20 until I saw that video here:
I read a lot of criticism about the white noise hiss and almost all other videos have removed it (most probably in postprocessing - found other videos as well with the hiss being there).
To me this is a big No-No so I will again look at the Katana 50.
Not looking for older SS amps anymore because the new developments in modeling/SS technologies are probably worth to get a new amp.
