After about a year of not really having much guitar time I’ve been looking at going for “the one” main guitar. I’ve got rid of 6 guitars last year and out of the 4 I now own 2 are going, both Squiers. One I sold was a Fender Modern Player and I miss the versatility. Looking around for one as a replacement I found this. m.thomann.de/gb/fender_deluxe_nashville_tele_dpb_pf.htm?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_qWHmfKW2gIVT7ftCh0yaQqzEAQYASABEgKgtfD_BwEIf Fender let me loose in there factory with an open book this is what would come out. Even down to fret board rad, pickups & colours. Anyone had anything to do with them?

Didn't you know, john , that Fender have a special safety valve built into their business model to avoid customers exploding with excitement. They almost make my dream tele by putting a maple fretboard on the daphne model but then sensibly leave out the Nashville pickup so that I can't have everything and avoid going POP!

I now have the ONE guitar, after ordering 8 HBs and returning it and even buying a G&L Fallout and re-selling it My beloved HB ST-62MN, just fantastic guitar! That Fender asks for lots of pennies! Im sure one could mod a HB Tele and make it Nashville and still be much bellow that price! I was looking at the Seymour Duncan Nashville Studio Te pups (use both Alnico 3 and 5 in the same pup to balance the low and high strings) for my TE-70. Then get a ST pup for middle and thats it! I think I’ve already popped @defjef. That is a nice guitar though mate. I need Daphne blue in my life. I agree with you though @chedapapa, the ST is one of the best. I’ve still got my 1st HB I bought, Vintage White / Maple Fretboard and it’s still original apart from a mint green scratch plate, everything just works as it is. I’ll never part with it.

I love the tele neck and bridge with lipstick middle on my frankencaster, but I do get uneven volumes. Good job they invented the volume knob.

I had a Modern Player that was the same @defjef, 1,2,3 & 5 were equal but 4 was really out of phase and quieter. The sound kinda came from another room. Weird but very useable. If it hadn’t been sunburst I’d have kept it, that and the fact my mate made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.

Ah yes, the poor objectionable sunburst. Some folk love them but a guitar has to have a lot of other things to overlook that look for me. I don't hate it, I just don't love it, so I swallowed my normal distaste for it to buy my Revelation RJT 60 Thinline and I'm glad I did. Will I ever love it though...?

Ah, aesthetics, people will tell you it’s not relative it’s how it plays. I don’t agree. I sold a surf green Strat because the headstock was horrible, played well. The MP as it was sunburst, an SG because I didn’t like the transparent wine colour. All great guitars. Then again I had a LP that was stunning to look at but didn’t feel right. Maybe I’m shallow but I’m the same with my guns. I love wood and steel in all its guises and the looks play a big part for me. The rest can be worked on.

These are the two I’ll never part with. I’ve ordered an ashtray bridge with brass saddles and some chicken head knobs for the TE, toying with a SD quarter pounder bridge PU for it but the ST is staying as it is. I’m scared that I could mess up its Mojo

Hm, I think I might get that ST-62 Blonde for my Lipstick project at some stage! I wish they still had Wilkinson (the old original ones). I loved how the ST-90SA Wilkinson sounded and these old ST62 versions! Not happy with these new Roswells so far!

I know what you mean mate, I’m not a big fan of Rosswells either. I’ve heard stories of Wilkinson’s being hit and miss but a good set are good. I wont change these they do exactly what I want, from creamy to dirty and everything in between. The ST-62 is the most playable guitar I’ve had, maybe it just fits me but I’ve never been able to fault her. I nearly bought a Fender 70’s neck once because it was cheap for what it was but I can’t see how it could be better than what’s on.
