Hi guys, I've left myself taunted by this lunchbox sized amp head, and there's no way I could regret my choice ! This small thing sounds big, I was quite impressed with the gain it has. Here's a small demo to let you hear how it sounds : https%3A//soundcloud.com/user-492302877/zombie-metalAll guitar sounds recorded with Joyo Bantamp Zombie. Clean guitar : gain 2 o'clock, tone 12 o'clock rythm guitar 1 : gain 1 o'clock, tone 9 o'clock rythm guitar 2 : gain 12 o'clock, tone 9 o'clock + Harley Benton vintage OD gain 8 o'clock, tone 12 o'clock. lead guitar (singing parts) : gain 12 o'clock, tone 2 o'clock + vintage OD gain 9 o'clock, tone 12 o'clock. Now, let's go a bit further in the analysis. As you can hear, this is a very modern hi-gain sound, close to a Mesa Boogie rectifier, and that's what I love. The only settings you have are gain, volume and tone. This last one is pretty good for just a tone pot, but not enough to really sculpt your sound the way you want. Yet, let's remember that this small head is 169€, and probably conceived to permit playing alone with a headphone. If you add a screamer pedal, you get tons of high end and a really mighty sound. But my pedal is the HB vintage OD, which I like, but which is eating basses. I have ordered an EQ pedal, in order to try and set the sound in a better way. If that works, I will have something very close to a MB rectifier for 220€ ! Best deal of my life Something else you must know : this head has a send/return loop. But, as far as using a screamer is concerned, it doesn't work very well, cos's the screamer comes over the inner gain of the head. So I had to plug the pedal before the amp, which doesn't have any noise gate. The buzz keeps in control as long as the gain doesn't raise too high. But a noisegate pedal can prove useful. Anyway, for the price, a real great deal.

Sounds great! And perfect choice of song to play as well I'd be interested in the Bluejay myself or perhaps the Atomic (I think thats the Voxy one?). Pity they don't have onboard reverb though. P.S> You should try the Ultimate Drive pedal. Lots of low end on it.

I'm buying the TC Mojo Mojo OD that has a voicing (more less bass) switch and Treble and Bass knobs!
Congrats on the amp and thanks for the review!

Since 1995, whenever someone says "zombie", I have this song in my head You're right about the reverb, it would be fine, but you still can add it in the mix. I have tried the ultimate drive. Yeah, lots of low end, but don't like the marshall sound. Plus, it doesn't bring the high end asskick the vintage OD brings. I have also tried with my Mooer hustle drive, and had the same problem. I really believe this amp is made for screamers, but stilldon't wanna spend 100+ for an Ibanez or Maxon, so I hope the EQ will do the job.

Thanks for the ref @chedapapa I hadn't thought about this one. I've ordered the Danelectro DJ14 Fish&Chips bacause of its 7 bands and good comments, but if it doesn't work good, I'll try the Mojomojo Btw, @chedapapa and salteedog, do you know any good reverb pedal for 60€ or less ?

I have been researching Reverb pedals for a LONG time now and I keep coming back to the one and only TC Hall of Fame. Thomann has the old version for 99 Euros. Well worth the money if you base your music around the Reverb as I do. I cant live without it! All of the cheaper ones are mediocre and can sound thin! I hate when a pedal steals the low end so all sounds thin! TC Electronic has 3 new Reverb pedals which might be good to try and they are around 50 Euros I think on Gear4Music

Thanks @chedapapa I'm not that much of a reverb addict, but like you, I don't like when it sounds too thin. 99€ is too much for a pedal in my mind, but I'll go the Gear4music and search for the new TC electronic reverbs. Is it a trustful site ?

Just had a chance to listen to your recording on my AKG headphones the liked the middle part with that Lead tone (very nice). The first half is just confusing. I suggest you try and EQ all the instruments so they dont mash into the same EQ space. One guitar can have more mids other less, etc ... I never studied this but rather go by ear. Our member blablas helped me to get the Bass Guitar tone right since at that time I just started playing bass a little. Im sure there are plenty you tube tutorials on EQing several instruments in a mix so all is audible without mud mush going on. Im saying this since you seem to like demoing stuff and in this case I could not hear much in the first 3rd of the song. Even the last 3rd is kind of suddenly too thin for some reason but not as mashed up as the first 3rd. The middle (2rd) sounds the best thanks to the cutting solo tone! EQing is such a biaatch and art at the same time! Ask @defjef BTW, I think you should try P90's you might like it!

Biyang Baby Boom RV-10 is the one that stands out for value and almost universal aclaim. Tt's got stereo in and out. You need to get it from China €45 though so runs the risk of custom duty as it's just over the customs threshold. Been meaning to get one myself for a while but holding off in case a secondhand Zoom MS-70CDR makes an appearance.

You're completely right about this EQinf, it's far from good and I don't really like it. But as you know, this is a demo of the amp. So I didn't want to do some EQ settings, cos' it' would no more be the way the Zombie sounds, but the way I set it up. I believe the 2nd part sounds better because the rythm guitars are clean and when OD starts again, it's only palm mute. But of course, when the hi-gain riff come back, since it's the same OD chan, everything becomes more confusing, though I have lower the gain down. I will complete this cover, and then it won't be a demo anymore. And there it will be my own settings. If you agree, @chedapapa I'll ask you to listen to it with your headphones and tell me what you think about it

I know about Baby Boom RV-10. Its been around for several years now I believe. Not sure I would be happy with it and running into customs would not be cheap anymore, top that with maybe 3 month waiting (my last two orders never arrived from Aliexpress) and no thank you from me TC Hall of Fame is used by SOOOOOO many professionals and is a tried box! Its is THE best choice for the money! Im ordering it tonight with the TC Mojo Mojo

Hi guys, Yesterday's discussion about the way the Zombie sounds gave me the envy to try and Eq my recording. So I did So, @chedapapa what do you think about this version ? Can you hear more precisely all the guitar parts ? https%3A//soundcloud.com/user-492302877/zombie-metal-with-post-eq

Yes, this sounds much better now but still there is this "out of a box" tone that needs tweaking. Did you discover the Stereo Upbeat in Reaper? If not go and use it for this song then post again for us to enjoy it here

Biyang seem to make pretty good quality clones. The only reason my 2 aren’t currently in my line is because I ran out of cables.
