Hi guys
I've bought this amp 1 year and a half ago and I'm using it every day. No need to say that I fancy it, but I say it anyway
Though I use it every time I record a test song - for the miscellaneaous guitars I've tried these last months - I never came up with the idea of playing samples of this amp !
And, god knows why, I've been thinking about it earlier on today.
Before giving you some samples, a few words about this amp.
First thing to know, it's an emulator. The way it works is quite simple : you chose the lamp emulator you want (KT88, 6L6, KT66, EL34, 6V6 or EL84), then you chose your chan (clean warm, clean bright, crunch, super crunch, OD1 or OD2) and you have the exclusive blackstar ISF pot. Can't remember what ISF stand for, but this pot gives you the choice between a british type of sound or an american type of sound. And of course, you can place the pot in between, so you've got an atlantide sound
Without even speaking about trebble, middle, bass and effects, considering you are either totally british or totally american, this gives you 72 different types of sound ! And I'll give you a sample of all those possibilities, though it will take a little bit of time and posts
Why am I doing that ? Cos it seems to me that many people are talking about the Boss Katana, which sounds good, but to me not as good as my dear Blackstar. So I decided that the time is come to ensure justice for this amp, cos it deserves it !
About quality, this amp is well built and strong. Never had any problem with it, except when I incidentally shooted the USB connexion, but that was all my fault. It sounds very good, and thanks to the Blackstar Insider app, you caan set it up and save your setups with the greatest of ease. The emulated line out sound is great, that's what I use for almost all my recordings.
That's all for this first post. I'll start with clean sounds in the next one. Though, if you can't wait, you can go to my soundcloud page and pick almost any track, except the "Zombie" files, which have been recorded with the Joyo Zombie. But you have to know that I generally use the same settings, with 6L6 on OD1 for metal rythm parts, 6L6 OD2 for the lead parts, and either 6L6 or KT88 with clean bright channel for the clean sounds.
