Hi,
Begin this year I ordered a b-stock Harley Benton DC Custom Cherry, and a b-stock Harley Benton DC Custom White. I knew they changed the production to Vietnam, so both above models have the new logo + symetrical shape.
I was amazed how well they looked and played, so I tought, maybe I buy the DC-580 and the DC-600, they were out of stock. So I waited until the DC-580 was back in stock, so I ordered it.
Today I received it, now heres the "weird" part:
I tought, new logo, new factory, they were long out of stock, but I received the old model. Old logo and old Viper shape.
But dont get me wrong, I like it, but I tought I would let others know.

Interesting. And a little strange. Does the DC-580 sound different? It has different pick-ups and quite a different price too.

I didn't realize that the shape had changed again. Looking at the website all the Harley Benton DCs seem to have the 'viper' shape - slightly offset from the Gibson shape.

I have a wilkinson DC-Custom and absolutely love that guitar!! I was thinking about givin the DC-580 a try, since i love the feel, sound &finish of the DC-Custom.(viper model) As far as i understand, the DC-580 comes from a different factory (I might be wrong) What do you think about the pickups and the tuners of the DC-580, does the job or need replacement? Do you have both the old DC-Custom & the new one? how do they compare?

Yes, because they were out of stock for quiet some time, so I tought maybe they are moving to the new factory, or at least put the new logo on. The DC-580 sounds more open, while the Custom is more les paul sounding (but not that much), the Custom is a bit darker, while the DC-580 is more brighter

Yes, the pictures are still the old viper ones, the two DC-Customs that I have (2018 version) are not offset, more Gibson way, but with the exact same positions/height of the horns. Fun fact: when I researched the DCs, I heard a lot of YouTubers talk about a angled body with the UPPER LONGER HORN, wich is funny, because I have a Epiphone SG Special, and when I put the DC Custom/DC-580 against the Epiphone, the upper horn is the same position/height as the DC one, so its not about the upperhorn, its about the lower horn.

Yeah I think they still make the DC-580 in the old factory, because whats interesting is that they were out of stock for a long time, so I tought oh okay, they are maybe changing to the new factory, with the new logo, but to my suprise today, I got the old model/viper shape. I have only two DC-Customs, the cherry and white one (both were B-stock), newest models (Gibson style shape), what I can tell you is: The two B-stock DC-Customs DO NOT stay in tune, I think they are fake grovers (not sure), while the DC-580 style tuners STAY in tune, and you would expect that the cheaper one would not stay in tune. Sound comparison: The DC-Custom (Roswell pickups) sounds darker The DC-580 are brighter, more open

I am surprised that the new DC-Customs have tuning issues, my "old" DC-Custom keeps its tuning perfectly well, i tune it about once a week, playing it around 3 hours a day, its as good as my 2010 SE PRS (Korean made). Sounds like i need to give the DC-580 a go!! Thanks, and lets keep this topic alive!

I have an older S-580 which was the Gibson shaped precursor to the DC-580. In spite of being neck heavy its a great guitar - probably my most played humbucker guitar (although I swapped the pups for some Wilkinson Alnico WVC pups taken from a Vintage guitar). Stays in tune pretty well too.

It looks like the cheap 119€ guitar has the better pick-ups. I'm not sure what "more open" means. More clarity? More real high ends?

It likely means Ceramic pickups. More punch more in your face. Sharper attack than Alnico.
