Here is a photo of my ST-59-HM with a mint green pickguard. Now that it does not have a one piece neck no more, it sits in a somewhat strange place in the HB lineup, it is basically a st-62, which retails for 119 EUR, with an alder body, a soft V neck and Roswell SK52 pickups for 199 EUR. The next one above it is a C24T P90 (220 EUR). Ill post some more in the next few days.

The most logical comparison would be against a Jack & Danny E-Gitarre ST Vintage Surf Green, which costs 111 EUR at musicstore.de.

I would certainly like to know how these J&D things compare to HB. I suspect you cannot fail at a Strat these days unless it's done on purpose.

I got tired with the poor finishing on the neck. Since I liked the neck profile, I wanted to try sanding it down and refinish it with an oil finish. This is the result after a lot of sanding and recontouring the headstock: I was never pleased with the string alignment of this guitar compared to the pickup's pole pieces. It got better once I had replaced the original pickguard with a mint green one, but it was always a bit off. I somehow always assumed that both the neck pocket and bridge alignment would be ok in this age of CNC. Today I was shimming the neck of a partscaster TE build I had going on and since I had the neck of his one off due to refinishing, I prepared shims for it as well. Once I punched the holes for the neck screws, I however noticed that something might truly be off, and I started inspecting the neck: Is this within the expected range?

Did you get rid of that yellowish colour or is this just a whim of the camera? I felt that yellow tint was out of place on the ST-62 MN but then I saw the Squier Classic Vibe 50s had the same and found out it is a historic Fender thing. I got used to it and like the way it fits the Sunburst I have but I think it ruins the Antique White model, which I didn't keep for purely aesthetic reasons (the one in my profile picture). I understand the irritation about unaligned strings and pole pieces. It looks untidy. I doubt it makes any difference in sound. But seriously, visible pole pieces look bad. They are technical entrails left bare. I would consider closed pick-up covers.
