There is also an ingredient in the production of guitar tone that is underestimated by most guitarists and that concerns the type of plectrum (or fingers)used in playing. The different picking approachs and the different types of plectrum can change the sound of a guitar.

The Squier Deluxe doesn't have Jazzmaster pickups in either. Just P90s in a Jazzmaster wrap. Check DerAlex 's info about this a couple of months ago. Yep, those are P90 type of pickups - just in a JM pup cover. It´s basically the same guitar as the Squier J. Mascis JM just in candy red. They have a much more punchy tone. They are not bad - but I am looking forward to more JM pickup sounds. One excellent demo of a JM I found in this video (awesome what kind of sounds Lemmo gets out of the guitar - check out after the 2:00 mark): And here is the video from Lemmo where he demo´s the Squier JM (this is the hardtail version, I got the one with the trem): Great demo as well, but they sound distinctively different compared to the video above.

And now of course, what everyone wants to know is how these new JM-looking pick-ups in that lefty JA-60 sound, assuming this is what future buyers are going to get.

Nice one roberto. Here's something I recorded - also on the neck pickup of my JA-60 (with Wilkinson pickups) a couple of weeks ago. Also a short atmospheric track. https%3A//soundcloud.com/salteedog/shippingforecast

Hi HB'ers !
After may 2 great and modded MS60LH-VW, my next target is the JA60LH, but I'm hesitating between the SB and the VW... It seems that the SB is nicer on pictures... What's your owners opinion ?
Moreover, I already have a B5 Bigsby to fit on it - sorry, I can't play without tremolo...
A+!
