I did post the picture elsewhere, but still...
I had the GAS for something new (and cheap... ish). Wondered about a Squier Dimension V. I then "discovered" HB did a 7 string for the same price as the Squier. It ticked all the right boxes. 35" scale (my Yamaha 6 string is 34"). It has a thru-neck and is strung through the body. 18 Volt electrics are a bonus.
Minor issues with packaging on its arrival... 10% refund due to small amount of Varnish damage at the top of the headstock. Minor issue with one of the string slots as there is a small ridge away from the edge of the slot which can cause strange sounds if I hit it wrong... yet to completely sort, but not a problem.
Finish is superb. Looks good with the five (?) different types of wood. Soundwise, one of the Sound guys at Church said it sounded better than my Yamaha. I would agree as it does sound good. Balance is good, though I do have locks on the buttons. Sustain is good, and the extra inch over the Yamaha helps with the low B. The neck is slim (front to back) and is around the same size as the Yamaha 6, so is not a huge step in terms of playability. Action was to my taste, as delivered.
The control layout confused me initially as I would have thought the row of three pots would have been for tone and the other two for Volume and pickup balance.
Overall, a great bass. 7 strings may not be for everyone, but I manage to use all 6 on my Yamaha at one time or another, so the high F is there if I ever need it!

Nice...
I have no need at all for a 7-string but still crave one of these. Damn you Harley Benton! (drool)
