Let us know how it goes. I'd like to play a DC/SG one day, just out of curiosity, because people have said it is so comfortable. It is quite clear that people at Gibson took the learnings from Fender's success when designing it. It was flat, thin, light, re-balanced and contoured. The Les Paul was discontinued around that time too.

The SG feels nothing like a Fender really. They tend to still have a 4 degree neck angle, balance badly and sit at a very odd place on that neck strap button. A very unpleasant experience to me even in comparison to a Les Paul and definitely in comparison to a tele or, even better, a strat. You'd swear Gibson had never made a guitar before when they came up with it. It IS light though...which leads it to often suffer from neck dive. Another nice feature. Another myth going up in smoke? Now that you mention it, it does look like that guy never found a comfortable playing position…

I just got a DC Custom and an SC Custom. They're both killer after adjusting the setup, dropping pickup heights and raising the pole pieces a bit. I don't find one in any way better than the other. The DC weighs less and comes through a bit louder/aggressive, whereas the SC sounds a bit smoother. I basically wanted something that was just on par if not a bit below my Agile Valkyrie, LTD Viper 400 and Epiphone LPC guitars (all MIK) ....and that's what I got, not even that far below, but about on par. The biggest surprise for me were the pickups. If your DCC is like mine, you won't be disappointed.

Hey vanv I'm happy to hear that. They are taking a last look at the guitar and it will probably get shipped today. I'm really looking forward to try it out.

QUICK UPDATE GUYS
I just received my DC-Custom. First impressions? This is one solid guitar. The buckers sound really good. Playability is sooo much more enjoyable than on my ST (also no sharp/buzzing frets and no ground issues) The grover tuners work really smooth, no issues here whatsoever, nut is properly cut and the intonation is spot on. The painting is really nice, although there are a few minor blemishes on the binding around the headstock, but you definetly can't see those unless you are specifically looking for them. I'm really happy with it, only issue I can actually see is the slight neck dive, but nothing a decent strap can't fix.
I will update this in a few days, to see how it goes, but overall, from a totally honest point of view, you just can't beat this at this price. It's really good.

I faced a similar dilemma recently, but ended up with a Jackson Dinky js32.

I'm really liking HB so far, but maybe I'll give Ibanez a shot, they also know what they are doing with them pointy guitars I have three, an S, an SR and an SA. Like them a lot. They are from the "standard" price category, just above the GIO line, nothing fancy, but the fretwork is excellent and I could find no obvious flaws in them. All three could be set-up nicely, although the SA was completely funny when I got it. The previous owner didn't know what he was doing. The vibrato is fine, comes back into place as it should, the electronics work. Pick-ups have lots of high end, better toned down a little. No idiosyncratic, exaggeratedly coloured sound, something that can be shaped. The active 3-band EQ on the bass is good, plenty of variation in there. Necks are thin and stable. All three are light, ergonomic guitars with rounded neck heels. I like the angled jack output, most practical solution I know.

Man that yellow one looks gorgeous, but I hate having a pickup in the middle :C I think I'll go with 2 buckers + trem, I already got a fixed bridge with the DC, and sustains like craaazy with it.

I had a S670 last year. Traded it for a second rg1527 (along with my old version schecter hellraiser c7.)
Anyway, I don't care what anyone says, the edge zero ii without zps was just nuts. Stayed in tune for entire duration of string life (in my case 3-4 weeks), and I was able to give it a crazy crazy low setup. It was overall almost on par with with my prestige's and pre-prestige Fujigen Ibbies and Fernandes.
