So I know that @defjef and @chedapapa have seen I want to sell my Laney and get a Solid State amp, I mainly get my sound from pedals so I think it's a reasonable thing to do. I was thinking of going for the Jazz Chorus 22, there's one on Reverb atm for £250+25 p&p, but thinking about it that's still a lot more amp than I really need. So I wondered if anyone had suggestions for a more basic amp, all I want is EQ and an FX loop. Good clean tone, don't really want a "dirt" channel as I suspect I won't like it as much as my fuzz pedals. Anyone got suggestions for me, apart from don't sell the Laney

Not sure if this fits the bill? A Joyo Bantamp blue Jay and either a 1x8 or 1x10 cab? The bantamps have just gain, tone and volume controls and a switch for clean or OD, effect loop and bluetooth. I know they have tube preamp but solid state amp. I have the meteor that is supposed to be orange voiced I very rarely use the OD normally I use clean and my pedal board. There are a few of these micro type amps available perhaps that is an option for you to consider? I think I would have been better getting the blue Jay version as I find the meteor can be to dirty.

I hadn’t considered that BlindWilly, that might be a good idea, one of those little head+cab jobbies.
I would probably go for the Atomic.

That was the one I was originally going to get, but ended up with the meteor. I think vox & peavey do this type of mini head too. But the Joyo's have effects loop and the headphone socket is supposed to be cab simulated?

My PC is pretty powerful, maybe I could go fully digital? I have a DAW. Hmmm decisions decisions.

That's an interesting idea MartinB. Something like Amplitube ought to fit the bill for you. I couldn't get on with it but that may have been because I had a free version.

I tested a Peavey Bandit 112 a few month ago and it was raw and loud. Too loud IMHO to be played at home. Just saying ...

I just bought that one used because it is an awesome amp-in-a-pedal pedal with great sounding headphone out. You can connect it to a DAW, PA, ... Used it should be around 120€ or even less.

I had Amplitube on my Phone for a while, using an iRig thing. It worked great to begin with, it's what I used to record the Ebow for Che's song, but then it just went fubar.
I'm thinking of going for Bias Amp, I know a lot of people rate it, and I liked the demo version.

Just been trying the demo out. It’s perfect for me. Contemplating selling off my pedals too, will put links in the for sale thread when I sort it out.

Interesting that you had Amplitube troubles too MartinB. Certainly if you are planning on mostly recording you won't be alone in going down the DAW only route and the convenience is immense. Won't you miss the creative part of being able to just sit and noodle through something though? I find a weird detachment when playing through headphones. Or would you always play through monitors? I'm sure it's a way that you soon get used to. I don't have any difficulty playing bass that way so have no idea why I do with the guitar.

That looks interesting DerAlex. They don't do a Lionheart one too do they? I find the samples on Thomann a bit weird. Some are wrongly labelled, I think, whilst I can't hear ANY difference between the USB versions and the others (they don't say how the others are recorded). They sound suspiciously the same so I don't know what they are trying to illustrate.

Been using BiasFX for a few years now and IMO it stands head and shoulders above others like Amplitube and Ampkit etc. Great through headphones but for in the room tones a good set of speakers is probably required. Also own a red stripe bandit that sounds great but a bit too loud for home use unless you have forgiving neighbours. Those ZT lunchbox amps seem to get great reviews for home use or gigging and recently saw a video of Bunnyman guitarist Will Sergeant using one in concert through a 2x12 cabinet.....sounded immense.
