Who knows if I've done a silly thing but I just bought this amp for £112. Only 44 miles away and, now that Severn Bridge Crossing has stopped charging tolls, a good £5 cheaper than it would have been before Christmas. A pity it has chicken head knobs. Nice score!

Looks nice, DefJef. I have never seen chicken-knobs that size before. Did the seller offer you some refreshments and something to eat?

Congrats! Im sure once you find that sweet spot that suits your taste this amp will only be replaceable by Deluxe Reverb or Princeton but nothing lesser than that Now you need to find that OD or Dist pedal that will get your flute like OD sound/tone. I would suggest focusing on a good Compressor pedal and a OD that fits that Blue Turbosound (mid scooped so Screamer could be the thing, dunno, its a search) Good luck

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Looks nice, DefJef . I have never seen chicken-knobs that size before. Did the seller offer you some refreshments and something to eat? They did offer me a chicken knob sandwich but I felt the urge to decline. I was in and out of the house in about 90 seconds. I was also parked in a 'home zone'. I didn't know what it was but I felt that, more than likely, it was Bristol's latest fiendish plan to extract some extra cash from me. I couldn't leave quickly enough - within strict speed limits obvs.

Nice hit, it looks a beauty. Give it a good workout and let us know the results.

Bristol sounds like a crazy place, DefJef. You did well to get out of there alive. But you had an opportunity to test the amp before you departed? Hope you will enjoy it anyway.

Sometimes you can meet real interesting characters when trading gear although often times the transaction will be a matter of fact exchange of goods and cash. The trade is usually proceeded by anxiety around what awaits.
I'm much more of a buyer than a seller but I have had enjoyable interactions with random people. One lad who I bought some hi-fi gear off invited me to join him for a bowl of soup and a chat and it was a good old chat as well. It was the same with the old jazz player I bought my Fender amp off. The passing on of a trusted and one-time valued possession often carries much more significance than just a purely commercial trade.

That was quite a risk you did there, DefJef . They knew you were arriving to buy the amp and could have been more accommodating in my view. The least they could have done would be to let you see the amp switched on. Babies must be fed but life continues! When I arrived at the address the seller of the little Mustang GT gave me there was no answer. I called his mumber on the mobile and said I have been knocking at the door for some time, maybe you can open it? He then said he does not live at that house but one just behind and gave me some clues as to how I might find it. At this point I was almost tempted to say forget it but I continued. Face to face he explained that people have difficuly finding his place and that is why he gave the address on the main road. Whatever. Prevously he told me that he did not have a guitar there to test it with so I took a guitar and cable with me and the amp was fine. He had another amp there. Strange that he had no guitar too. He was a strange person.
