Ok, Im very very much intrigued with this new Nutube technology by VOX ! Just listen how this tiny box sounds into 4x12 (only one speaker miced though). Shame this one has no FX Loop
But listen to that Creaminess and sizzlness on the single coil guitar!

It is a good thing that it does not have a FX loop because you might would have bought it!

I remember watching an Anderton's video where they compared a couple of traditional Tubescreamers with one that had a Nutube in. The Nutube one always seemed to sound worse or, at best, never any better, and that was when the Nutube was bypassed. They don't seem to have taken off yet but it's good to see somebody starting to try them. It will be good to see how well they stand up.
A SoundOnSound review really liked the AC over the more Fendery version which wouldn't break up or the Marshally one which wouldn't really do clean.

I read a guy who put an AC on his pedal board and then went straight to the desk for recording and for gigs. Imagine the lovely portability of that. I'd love to be able to travel that light...although I have sort of missed the feeling of an amp behind me when I've used the Joyo American Sound pedal that way. It feels like there's something between me and my sound. Goodness knows how it must feel to be The Edge in a vast arena. I think I'd start to believe it wasn't me playing at all and stop for a second just to check!

Last year I went to see some friends who play in a blues rock trio at a local small club. Singer guitarist was using a 20 watt Fender Mustang v1.2 mic'd into the PA. It sounded terrible and I told him so later. He completely agreed but explained that it was a cheap gig

No way Delay and Reverb will sound good infront of that VOX MV50 AC ! The dalayed parts will distort into f a rt s Shame really, as thye could add FX Loop instead of making so many different varieties. FX Loop and Gain and Volume knobs and all good. I think they are just testing to see wwhat sells most and THEN develop the real deal ... or not

I think you're exactly right Che. Nobody quite knows what to do with these Nutubes yet or is able to figure out which part of the market will embrace them. If they start to be proven as a genuine and reliable alternative to tubes we could be looking forward to some lovely, and lighter, gear in the coming years.
