I'm wondering if there is a particular tuning of the 4 string bass for chordal playing. Something which gives more and easier finger positions. At the moment Im in standard (the only one I ever played both on guitar and bass) E,A,D,G
Also any books or links to chordal and harmonic playing appreciated.
Thanks!

I only play in standard tuning, unless a certain song calls for drop tuning (which I would use the 5 string for if possible). As always, find what you find comfortable and pratice. To be honest, I don't play many chords as I prefer the guitar or piano to do that I can highly recommend checking out the lessons from Mark on TalkingBass.net You can also find his videos on YouTube, but on the site you can download PDFs etc. His lessons are free, and I personally find him to be a great teacher who makes learning easy, but that is my opinion, others may not agree. Scott Devine also has some good lessons on YouTube.

I've been using his lessons now for quite some time and am VERY happy with the results.
