Hi boys, merry chistmas!
Near three i found my christmas present: an harley benton ja-60 sb. This is the same harley benton guitar with joys and pants.
Look is very good for the price, but i don't tell the same for the wood used. This guitar is very light probly more of st-20 that use the same basswood. Tuners are the same that you can found on st-62 vintage and are cheap but don't loss the tune as on st-20.
Bridge is the classic les paul but cheap version like sc-450 and on this guitar there is the same defect bridge holes or the screws sfuds do not are married well.
Neck is again too big to very far from the typical jazzmaster. Freets need to be polishing.
Sound is without a particular pparticular character and in any case I would say quite far from a jazzmaster even when the particular circuit is not used, completely absent here.
It's a shame, I have a cst24 with p90 roswell and they seem much better, can it depend on the mahogany? I do know !
Hardware like pot, (vol and tone) are simply toys, the tone is completely useless nothing similar, albeit cheap, to those used on the st-62.
In conclusion it is a beautiful guitar, but only to be exhibited the reality is not only different from how it is shown in the videos (certainly driven and with an altered sound for the better) but i believe that the actual price is too high for that offer. Probably if if it had a price still similar to that of the st-62 perhaps it would still be acceptable, but while the st-62 gives an idea of stratocaster here apart from the shape and some details sonically we are far from a jazzmaster.
I recommend spending more and taking a squier vibe which, in addition to being the faithful copy, is not even that far from the original.
This time Thomann performed well and did not avoid replacing the ropes which, as always, arrived already oxidized.
