Hi there
Sorry if this is abrupt. But I have just deleted everything on this thread. I was nearly two hours getting all my number and fact correct and just when I was adding the last image, I managed to go back a page in the browser and delete everything.
Basically. Yesterday I got a TE-70 RW delivered to the door. But there was something funny looking about the fretboard. I put it down to the light and started to adjust the truss rod as there was an awful bow in the neck. I got it as best I could without buzz. But the action was still very bad.
I now looked at the fretboard again and it looked like the frets were not spaced correctly. Unfortunately, I only have a measuring tape at hand. So using this I went to the stewmac.com fret calculator and took the necessary details from the HB website. From the nut to the 12th seemed to be correct. But there were a number of the other ones which were not. I decided to use the other guitars that I have at hand here.
Firstly I tested the Harley Benton GS-Travel Mahogany withe the specs provided from HB. This seemed to be just tine. I also have a Takemine G and a VOX 24 Standard. Again these seemed to be just fine. And all three visually looked correct.
As it was still difficult to play I decided to have a look at the intonation of the guitar. As this is the first tele-type that I have ever had, it took me a while to get used to it and eventually I got some acceptable results. The action was down to as low as I could get it now without buzz. But it still isn't great.
I was hoping to test it on my old VOX AD30VT amp that I had pulled out of the attic. But it was making an awful racket. So that will have to wait until another day.
The Nut on the TE didn't look great either. But I don't want to do any more with it at the moment as it will probably be going back. I am uploading some photos comparing the Standard 24 and the TE so you might see the differences.
I actually wanted a TE-52 but they were out of stock. I wish I had waited now.
Can anybody please let me know what you think and tell me if you have heard of this kinda thing before with HB.
Cheers
Ok. The images did not seem to upload or link to correctly. So I am providing links to them below. Cheers
