Hey all. The JA-60 looks like a really nice guitar that ticks a lot of boxes for me. Most reviews online just say the neck is "chunky". How chunky is it? Does anyone know how it compares to, say, a 50s style Les Paul neck?
Also, I notice that they've shortened the body from that of a traditional jazzmaster (presumably because they don't need to include the large jazzmaster tremolo system). How's this affect balance for playing sitting down? I know that originally the jazzmaster was designed to be a comfortable guitar to play while sitting down, but I can imagine that removing an inch or so of wood from the body would affect the weight and balance significantly. Maybe it's not so well-balanced and comfortable as a jazzmaster to play while sitting down? (For the record, I currently have a Les Paul and it is, like, the least comfortable guitar to play while sitting down. It's so butt-heavy that it's constantly trying to fall off my right side.)
Thanks for any opinions that anyone can share!

Haven't got a 50s Les Paul to compare necks with but do have an SC550, SC450 and an Epiphone Les Paul special. The JA60 I have, purchased Jan/Feb 2019 (first batch to have jazzmaster style pups) has a slim neck comparable with my Squier Affinity strats. My JA60 certainly is nowhere near a chunky neck.
I have not found any balance problems with it either sitting or on a strap.

And how does it compare to the JA60? I've got an LP Special, about 20 years old, and it has the slim taper 60s neck and I have to say, my hand (which is kinda large) doesn't feel that comfortable on it. I see that both Epiphone and Gibson are now making the LP Specials with the bigger 50s neck like they originally used to. I haven't been able to try one to see if that neck is more comfortable. One of the reasons I'm interested in the JA60 is that several reviews said it has a big neck. But I see that HB has tweaked things about this guitar over the years, so if you have one with a slim neck I wonder if they've changed that. I guess with Thomann's generous return policy I could just order it and see...

My Epiphone Les Paul special is a 2017 special II LE model, it has a fairly thick neck. I can't honestly say if it's similar to a 50s neck? It's certainly chunkier than the JA60 I have which is a 2019 model with jazzmaster type pups. I'd say the neck on my JA60 was a slim taper but not ibanez wizard proportions.
It's a very good guitar for the price. I don't find the neck uncomfortable but it's not as thick/chunky as I would like but playable. Its certainly a lot of guitar for little money.
