I have a live rig (or two..). I have DI gear and cab sims and racks of interfaces and compressors...
The live rig is loud. The rest of the stuff is in my office. Recently it's been hotter than hell in there. So I avoid the office.
I've never been much of a home practice person. But recently I found myself going months without playing.
Enter the GE-150. It has all sorts of features and doodads. I want one thing from it - I want to plug my guitar, headphones and phone in to either jam with stuff I'm working on writing, or because I need to play along with my own crap to knock the rust off for a show.
I was a little hesitant. Many reviews said it sounds decent enough, but it's a pain in the ass to program. That's at least partially right. Initial setup and configuring the wah required some YouTube assistance. After that, I dialed up a setting for a JCM800 with a tube screamer in front of it and an orange 412. Took about 5 minutes.Does it sound like a marshall and a tube screamer? No, not really. Is it close enough to rock out with my most recent mixes? Absolutely.
I'm sure there's a ton of stuff this thing does that I'll never see. But it does exactly the one thing I bought it for and it does it reasonably well.
(NOTE: There is a new Harley Benton MFX at thomann..I'm not 100% Sure, but the specs read like it's a rebranded mooer ge-150 for $20 less)
