Hi guys. So... Out of all your OD pedal collection, which one is your absolute favourite?? Here's mine: I have tried quite a few "boutique" and high €€€ dirt pedals and always come back to my cheapo TS clone. Love it!!!

I've only tried a few physical ODs, TC Cinders, Vox Ice 9, TC Mojo Mojo, tried a bunch of simulated ones though.
Mine is my faithful BD-2

I'm an advocate of stacking but if I'm pushed and had to go all Highlander (there can be only one), I would choose one of my klon klones.
It is really hard to to pick just one! Are the American Sound and Sonicake Rockstage ODs or amp in the box (whatever that really means?). Then again does fuzz or distortion count as OD pedals? Anyway back to the main point, even though I like stacking the klon type for me work better than others I've tried (when stacked), I can also get some tones both clean and dirty with the klone on its own. So I'd go definitely for a klon type klone and no doubt in the future I'll get another klon klone. It's a disease, the inexhaustible quest for the cosmic klone! 🙈 🙉 🙊 🛸 🚀 🛰️

Are you stacking your Mosky Silver Horse AND Caline Pegasus now blindwilly3fingers ? If so how's that going? Since stacking my Pegasus and Pure Sky I've been getting used to their response which I find lovely - thanks for mentioning that Pure Sky, I'd not come across it before. The poor guy who sold me the Pegasus emailed me the other day to say he hadn't received it back despite my requesting a return. I'd forgotten to mention to him that the Pure Sky had turned up and my Pegasus experiment had become permanent! Because this particular stack has been on my board for a while now I forgot to mention my Obsessive OCD clone that has been my go to overdrive up until now. It was the best of my bunch until this pair of Calines arrived. I must do a Pure Sky/Obsessive comparison to see if BOTH should be on my board at the same time.

Interesting that all our faves are fairly cheap as OD pedals go.

After watching quite a few of JHS's shows one of the biggest things he seemed to be saying to me was that if you have the money and the desire by all means buy the expensive boutique jobby, but there's nothing wrong at all with the cheap clones some are just as good, some are in fact better.

For recording someone might use an original 70s era Big Muff or Tone bender, fuzz face etc etc... but the modern recreations are more reliable and can be significantly cheaper there is also a lot more variety and tone sculpting options.
I often forget that a more significant number of players think more about how their gear will hold up gig to gig and sound in a mix with band mates.

Hmm. Little test using my tele into a Bugera V22 Pegasus into Pure Sky = fantastic Pegasus alone = ok but a touch fizzy Pure Sky alone = really nice but lacking that bit of extra that the Pegasus INTO the Pure Sky has Pegasus into OCD CLONE = nasty and messy OCD Clone into Pegasus = even worse! OCD Clone into Pure Sky = really nice and crunchy Pure Sky into OCD Clone = fantastic with lots of sustain on lead lines The consistent factor here was that Caline Pure Sky. It seemed to behave nicely with everything and was no slouch by itself!

Interesting that all our faves are fairly cheap as OD pedals go. Of course, after all we are Harley Benton guys!

Not tried stacking the silver horse into the pegasus or vice versa DefJef. I've been stacking either klone into my blues driver or crazy cactus (fulldrive2 clone), sometimes even into the sonicake distortion pedal I'm not over keen on. Surprisingly I can get some nice useable tones from the distortion that way. Now I don't know if I'm doing this correctly? I use my American sound pedal in front of the amp with the other pedals into it. So basically setting the amp flat but quite high volume, and using the AS controls as the amp. This appears to be working for me and the the klone of choice plus whatever clone and effects add to the cacophony. 😉 When I get some time I intend to try a klone into my fuzz pedal and into the other klone. I was going to try the AS as the first in the chain but haven't got round to it yet.. From what I've read and seen @coldwar1977 a lot of the cheap brands/clones are preety well built. OK some may be a tad noisy but I presume a cheap noise gate may help? As MartinB says if you can afford to buy the real thing you can. I personally wouldn't pay what a real klon is going for apparently they are pushing $4000 plus now. Although I'll probably end up getting the $200 J Rockett Archer or similar at some point. 🥴
