I've only just noticed this brand of pedals. Whilst looking for various types of character pedal amp sims, I noticed these, and some of their other pedals. For some reason I'm drawn to the cali sound, not sure why, possibly the voxy one as well. Is it possible that there's a fenderish tone in the Cali sound pedal somewhere on low gain lowish voice, along with some rich and creamy overdrive tones too.

The American sound is fender sounds, the California is Messa Boogie territory jml77. You may be able to tame the cali a bit? Unfortunately I use the American sound for all things fender.

I think I'll leave it then, and the others too after my experiments last night. I've always been interested in the Tech21 pedals, they're just out of my price range, there's a plethora of Character clones available, so every now and then I get GAS. The latest ones I've seen are the MOSKY versions, which they label amp cab sims, and are housed in standard sized stompboxes. I couldn't find a UK source for them on ebay. I'm sure someone will stock them soon enough. Mosky classic cab sim pedalsI have a Behringer GDI21 sansamp2 clone and I hardly ever use that, the tweed setting is too spiky, the marshall and mesa setting have too much distortion/overdrive. I've modified it to reduce the gain but it's still difficult to get a dynamic clean setting with it. So if that's anything to go by, I should give the character clones a miss. I bought a Mosky Silver Horse, which arrived yesterday. It's an interesting design, which is why I decided to get a klone. Will it stay in my sig chain, or gather dust like a few of my other pedals... I'll save my thoughts about it for the mosky horsey thread.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

That's a great link jml77 . I've never seen such an honest cloning confession on a website before nor such clear descriptions of how to use these sim pedals: "CLASSIC AC-30 based on Tech21 SansAmp Character Series Liverpool
Built in speaker simulation is an integral part of the CLASSIC Series circuitry. Each model is tuned to match the speaker/cabinet of that amplifier. It is designed for a smooth, even response as would be achieved by a multiply-miked cabinet, without the peaks, valleys, and notches associated with single miking. The shape of the speaker curve will not adversely effect or interfere with the frequency response of your own cabinet. There is no need to defeat the speaker simulation circuit when using it with a guitar amplifier."So that clears up a few questions that I've always had: is cab simulation the same as speaker simulation? Should these pedals be used into an amp or instead of an amp? Personally I find it difficult to see how something that has been circuit designed to sound like an amp and cab can be a good thing to use into the circuit of another amp and cab but I have to say I feel they actually sound better that way. Like blindwilly3fingers I too have the American Sound pedal and insist on using it straight to the mixer for rehearsals to save me lugging a tube amp along, and I don't really think it sounds like any tube amp let alone the various Fender tube amps that it is meant to be able to emulate. To me it basically sounds like a cheap solid state amp that normally needs some other taming. It's fine as a way to get some sound from A to B with a degree of drive and some nice eq functionality but it's much better into a tube amp - but that then rather negates its usefulness to me. So for convenience at a super cheap price it is a godsend. But once I'm considering taking an actual amp along to a gig it sits in my case as a backup should the real amp decide tonight is not the night.

At some point I might well buy some, my interest in the circuit and electronics will get the better of me. And they are so cheap.
I must try out the GDI21 again, dust it off, and try it's DI out, straight into USB recording interface, thankfully I won't have to use it's amp modelling, not sure if the cab sim it's supposed to have works in bypass though.
I discovered a tone I liked last night, after hours of switching and stacking pedals, they were all bypassed, just guitar and valve amp. Lush.

I have the mosky silver horse jml77 it's quite a good klone. But the little toggle switch ads some dirt which is different to most klones. I have a caline pegasus klone too and very nearly got the horse tauren, I have a sickness for klones. 😯 Hope you enjoy the silver horse 🤞

I'm beginging to use it rather than play with it, I think i'm over the 'what does it do in this setting' phase, and just finding a mild overdriven sound and forgetting about it to concentrate on playing guitar.
I'm tempted to get a Mosky amp-cab sim pedal once they're available from someone in the UK. I could order direct from Japan or China, I'm not sure I could stand the waiting time, knowing that it was somewhere on it's way for several weeks.

Most of the stuff I'm getting on eBay from China takes 2 to 3 weeks maximum jml77. Some of it has been here in 10 days, its definitely improved from a few years ago. The horse pedals I purchased were delivered in 3 days, that sellar must have a UK warehouse set up?

2 to 3 weeks is pretty good, but I'm still going to wait for a UK seller. I'm too impatient once I've ordered something.
I tried the behringer GDI21 direct into usb interface, and it works quite well, definitely quieter noise wise than through the 1/4 inch jack output. I find it quite usable both bypass and active with the amp sims engaged. I'm fairly sure there's a cab sim engaged in bypassed DI mode as well. Though I'll have to check on that. It's not bad on low gain settings with the amp sims on, but the gain settings become quite fatiguing after a while. I find that's the case with any overdrive, so it's my ears and preference rather than any fault with the box.
Can you get good low gain clean settings with the character pedals, most youtube videos like to show off the higher gain settings, so I've always been in two minds whether or not to take a chance on one.

With the American sound and AC tone I get some nice low gain cleans. Tbh jml77 I've not had the California sound or British sound long enough to give you an answer. I need to get to know those pedals better.

Thanks BW3F I'll have to give them a try sometime. Though I have my eyes on those Mosky amp cab sims, I'm sure the circuit will be identical to the other character clones. There's a few youtube demo videos cropping up of them. Mosky Classic AC-30Mosky Classic M-ShallI'm also tempted by the TC Electronic Cinders, which according to some is close match to a Boss BD-2. I think I might be more interested in the electronics involved rather than the actual sound of these pedals. I have some Silver Horse mods cooking, just waiting for some components to arrive, if they work I'll post more info.
