I recently purchased a JB-75 which im looking to mod in the near future with some fender vintage pickups, new pots and caps, tuners and a new bridge although i'm kind of stuck with finding a new bridge for it due to the mounting screws being 5 on the back and 2 in the front. anyone has any pointers on a good aftermarket bridge for this bass or if an american standard genuine fender will fit?

Hi mluzzatto and welcone to the club!
With regards to the bridge, what is it about the Harley Benton bridge that you don't like?
I have tried various bridges, and the bent plate bridges all seem the same to me. I am not saying don't do it, I am just wondering why?
As far as fitting a Fender bridge, it is quite easy to plug the current holes and drill new Ines if you want. I believe Sung make 5 + 2 screw bridges, but I wouldn't say they are different to the HB bridges (but neither are the Fender/Squier in my opinion).

Hi mluzzatto I've had a 75 for a good while and never had reason to change things. Fender get all their hardware from OEM factories in the Far East like everyone else, their habit of chopping and changing factories as prices rise was listed as a potential problem in the "shares Prospectus" a few year back 2012 ? What benefits are you seeking ? If it's for modding experience I can understand, beyond that ?

initially I wanted to fit a hipshot to it as i enjoy the feel of that bridge, although i was looking in the end for feedback or someone that had done something similar to see if it was worth it. in the end the only mods that i'm sure of so far are the pickups and wiring primarily plus some high end tuners and a brass nut because of the tone of it mostly. either way thanks for the responses will do some more research and see if there's any actual benefits to the new bridge

mluzzattoI know a fella put Wilkinson JBXN pickups and a custom loom in his, he'd bought a deko and it was dead on arrival.Course this meant he'd no chance to say A sounded better than B. Wiring loom could be a good idea as I found very little variation with the tone pot(not a thing I use often). If you feel the neck dive maybe swapping the tuners for ultralites is an idea. Regarding bridges:- A look round the room here shows over 20 different bridge designs but I'd be hard pushed to tell you any improvements from a hi-mass Gotoh to a super hi-mass T-40 or the Traben Bigger Bridge system ( Neo version large metal Musicman style scratchplate and bridge combined ) to a BBOT. That's me though, if it holds strings and intonates I'll live with it. Even the bloody 3 point effort Gibson loved.Good news is like JAC said any bridge can be made to fit. If you like the Hipshot fit the Hipshot, anything that makes you bond more with the bass is a good idea.

I see all this talk re mods, im no expert by any means but imo, unless you plan on recording with your HB I would save my money from purchasing (bridges and caps) and invest in the "working help' tuners, pickups and exceptional amplification and effects. "Woo the crowd". Jus sayin.
