Following the subject opened by DefJef , who introduced us to the new Harley Benton MR-Classic LH SB model - hence available Left-Handed - I couldn't resist too long to order one at thomann.de. How could it be differently at that reasonable 248 Euros price tag ? I received the instrument today - so let's go ! Opening the second carton - suitably packed, no discussion : Let"s unpack the instrument itself - the pictures speaks for themselves : Headstock details : Oh, and even a quality card, just like for a Duesenberg, a Gibson, a Fender, a Etc... : Let's examine the DCR of the ARTEC P-90 pickups : Do you really think that I would left that Lefty-Mosrite-Like without a Bling-but-Premium tremolo ? No way ! : But when I placed my order, I forgot to add a Göldo HW05C roller bridge - an excellent item - I was lost... So I am quite for a new order, therefore! Wait and See... Cheers,

I want it! Amazing, what is it like, comfortable, solid, have you not played it? Thank you Guys ! Hi droog Lefty Mate, You will be surprised , but I did not found the time to play it, nor to weight it ! I just placed another order to thomann.de for a missing pair of Göldo HW05C Bridges... But of course, I'll let you know further ASAP ! What I can already say is that I noticed no flaws in finish or assembly on that MR-Classic LH SB... They are made at the PT Wildwood Factory, Indonesia, which also produce parts and complete guitars for Schecter and ESP, among others. Cheers,

Hi Guys ! I could work on the project this Week-End... Never too late, right ? It's not completely finished : I have to rewire properly the guitar (more direct, shorter and braided cables, treble bleed...), shield the pickguard and cavity completely with adhesive aluminium foil. Mr Balthazar stays unimpressed by the newcomer... That said, the guitar as is weights now a 4.2kg - quite heavy - but fortunately, it's a well balanced instrument : no neck dive, DefJef. Cheers,

I haven't been satisfied with these roller bridges. The idea sounds ok, but all the several ones I had were adding buzz to the sound. I usually prefer a classic ToM with Bigsbys ( 335 & Casino ) Maybe you will consider a Gretsch Rocking Bar like the one I'm using on my €piphone Swingster, that also features a Bigsby : no more buzz and the intonation is surprisingly acurate. Do not worry, floatting bridges also work fine on solid bodies, ... but you still can try it on the original studs.
.... And it would make the look of your MR even more gorgeous

Not tempted by the baritone hartonbenley ? You could have tested the neck dive for me! No more neck dive once a BIGsby is installed

Yes. Well, the problem with the Gretsch Rocking Bar Bridge (GRBB) is that the radius is too large : think between 16" to even 20" depending on the sample. I installed one on my G6119LH but I re-radiused it a 10" to match the radius of the guitar. On one of my guitar projects, I installed a Tru-Arc Sepentune Lefty Custom Made. Great but costy at 200 euros : That said, the Göldo (thomann.de) bridge that I use on my MR-Classic, and on many of my other guitars works flawlessly, despite a cost at a mere 43 Euros... Probably one of the best and most reliable & consistent from one to another sample in that price range. www.thomann.de/fr/goeldo_turnomatic_roller_bridge.htmCheers,

That's one dainty precision instrument of a re-radiusing machine you've got there hartonbenley ! Good work.

Re-shielding of the cavity and pickguard : A bit of modding-rewiring : A drawback : the frets are very tall at 1.5mm... That's too much for me, and I'll have to ask my luthier pal to correct them at 1.2mm. And why not a "Aged Pearl" pickguard ? Cheers,

Cracking guitar. My MR Classic was the first HB I bought last May (and my first new-bought guitar since 2006). Ridiculously impressed with how good it is for the money. Been looking for a lefty Mosrite type since 1992, this is the firstcone I found that was affordable, not a custom order from the other side of the world. Wish they had made the blue or the red available lefty. Held off for a while in hope of that, but then they briefly dropped the price to GBP156.... couldn't turn that down.
I hope they eventually do onevin their tribute series that replicates Johnny Ramone's legendary customised white Ventures II. A matching bass model would be nice as well.
