There is suddenly more bass amps for sale here in Denmark on the second hand web page and I think its because people are getting new amps as presents and are selling the older gear they had. Maybe yes maybe not, the thing is this is my opportunity to get a decent bass amp for practice/rehearsal/even small gigs if I ever come to that stage. And according to folk over at Bass Chat I can even play my guitars through a bass amp. So here they are to choose from: Ampeg Micro-CL 100 w head with 2x10" cab (looks like new) - 200 Euros Ampeg BA 115 , 100 W combo (looks like new) - 200 Euros There are some other bass amps but I think these are the ones I want, one of them that is

I would go with the head and 2x10 out of those 2. You can always try different cabs with that head if you want to, but with the combo you are limited to the 1x15, which personally is not my favourite.
If possible, try them out, you may find you love Ampeg or you may hate it. I am a fan of GK, or was, until I got the Fender Rumble.

One thing, I can't remember of it is the micro CL head that has a habit of self destructing.

I'd go for the Ampeg BA115...If it's for rehearsal/small gigs. It has a great tone, portable, headphones and line in for connecting ipad or whatever to jam along to. I have the smaller 112 and am very happy with it. I've not tried the others mentioned but I'm sure if you do a little research on Talk bass you'll get good opinions.

I just thought that I would let you know that it isn't the CL that self destructs, I was confusing it with another head.

Talk of second hand amps finds me pinning for one of these again. hough normally they looked like this 4ft high 3ft wide by 16inch deep and had to weigh 60Kg easy. Commonly called " The washing machine " I carted one of them on and off buses all over Edinburgh and Central Scotland when in my teens. Hell I took it to parties too and we played records through it Bus drivers hated seeing me coming on a Sunday morning, still drunk armed with beer and washing machine No help with any of the amps you listed Che sorry

If I ever played on a bass amp I would have some sort of clue what Im after

Thanks JAC! How does that other amp self destruct I wonder? I was refering to the PF350 (and maybe also the PF500) which had issues with their earlier batch of products. They used to fry the motherboard for no goo reason (if I remember correctly). This was later solved and seems to have been no issue since, although some of the earlier ones may be worth avoiding.

If I ever played on a bass amp I would have some sort of clue what Im after If you could find a cheap Zoom B3 around, that you could buy and then return or sell later, the Amp and Cab simulations are very good on those, it would give you a good idea of what setup works together. As this is probably not an option, it would be good if you try watching some bassist rig rundown videos to see who has a sound that you like and what they are playing through. As I said, Ampeg have their own sound, which they are famous for and lots of people love. Obviously the SVT sound will not come out of a BA110, but it will resemble some of that sound. GK (or Gallien Krueger) are more modern sounding, closer to a neutral sounding amp/cab, but a lot of people find them sterile (I really like the GK amps I have played through and owned, the MB112 was great!) Fender I was not a fan of, until they released the latest Rumble, which I love! I have the 500W 210 and it is amazing, in my opinion of course. I also like Ashdown, who make good quality stuff for not a lot of cash, but damn those things are heavy! Their sound is also "old school". Old Peavey stuff is great, and loud, but also as heavy as the Washing Machine posted by kodiakblair There are obviously a million brands and models out there, many of which will be completely different to the stereo types that have been formed about certain brands. I do not know how any of these will sound with guitar, and also your effects will change the outcome. I am a fan of "transparent" sounding amps and cabs (and speakers) so I can model them as I want with the Zoom B3 or my PC, but some people prefer the "signature" tone of a specific amp or cab. If money were no object, I would buy an ultralight Power Amp (for PA, not bass or guitar) and run it through a Barefaced cab (or fEARful/fEARless), this would give me a setup similar to my previous live rig, but about 50kg lighter!

Just checked for Zoom B3 and nada , zilch , zero result. Will see if more comes up, because soon will go all the way to the west part of Denmark and that is a chance to buy something there second hand, more choices.
