Hi All,
New poster. I recently purchaed the 450 p90 gold top. Came in excellent shape overall. I wanted to adjust pickup height as the gap was a bit too large on the neck pickup, but when I loosened the post screws nothing happened except the screws stuck out. Seems there are no springs in the post screws. I've seen some mod videos where they put shims under the pickups. Any else have this issue?
I'm so far not thrilled with the gear heads, which seem to slip out of tune after a little bending. Will replace with Grovers or something similar. Lemon oiled the fretboard, which left the rag a bit black, but should be fine now. Also need to polish a few of the frets which were scratchy out of the box. But I must say I'm impressed with the pickups and the action. Really worth a lot more than what I paid. Happy customer.

Hi, When trying to achieve same output level on my sc450gt p90 pickups I ended up with the neck pickup nearly flush with the body and bridge pickup pretty high.
I generally find that lower pickups tend to have a clearer cripoer sound, and I simply incr see volume irngain if needed...but it's really personal preference. Regarding the soapbar height adjustment i added some foam under the bridge pickup. For tuning stability I've never changed out tuners.....on over 20 guitars I've solved any tuning stability issues working on the nut, and I've had some really really really cheap tuners 😄

Thanks for the responses. Could be that the strings need to stabilize, so I'll give it a couple weeks. Looks like any upward adjustment on the pickups will require a shim of some sort. Pretty easy fix.

There are foam pads under the pickups. You can fit springs or add more foam.
