A Jazz Bass needs block-inlays. Added some inlay stickers to the JB-Shorty.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Ordered two of these, guess what the next Shorty conversion will mimic. Chines dual coil toasters. I've used this type of pickup before and they are coming close to the original, not identical but close enough for me.

The 12 string build will, with a bit of luck, be finished this weekend. I need to have something at hand to work on once that one is done. (angel)

Absolutely love the MMB-Shorty, blablas! Do you take orders for a right-handed version? Do you think it would also sound good with a passive pickup, being so close to the bridge on a short scale and all..?

The pickup is in the same position as on the MM original, I scaled this position down to 30 inch scale. It will not sound the same passive, the preamp is a major part of what makes this humbucker work in this position. I don't take orders, either lefty or righty - I do this for my own pleasure and don't need the money I could potentially make with this.

Yeah, you may be right ... there are some short-scales with passive humbuckers but they are closer to the neck (mickey way squier mustang, fender pawn shop mustang) so they end up sounding more like a p-bass than a MM. About the orders, I respect that... It was worth a try I should be fine, provided I can find a way to route the pickup cavity myself. Thanks.

The pickup position has a huge impact on how a bass (and pickup) will sound, this is a lot more important than all the mythical tone-woods people are always babbling about!

Made a new pickguard for the MMB-Shorty. Old: Got bored with this one. (angel) New: Was making one last week for the upcoming RiB-Shorty project and I could get two pickguards from one pickguard plate.

I don't, I buy rough pickguard plate sheets and shape the complete pickguard from them.
