I was thinking about getting myself an EX-76, however looking at the product photos it seems like they have changed the body shape, and that the original version is now discontinued. Are these two separate models or an updated version of the same model? Does anyone know anything about this?
It's a shame if so, since that dent at the base on the new version looks so weird to me.

I think Thomann were told by Gibson, a few years back, to change their shapes or lose the Gibson brand. That would certainly explain the change. The latest HB version of the Flying V also has a tweak to the body shape on the inner edges of the V that takes it away from the original shape. From memory, both the V and EX body changes took place at a similar time. It's a shame if so, since that dent at the base on the new version looks so weird to me.
I agree. I guess the only option if you want the classic body shape and headstock (but not the Gibson price) is Epiphone.

But the HB model sounds better than the €piphone, in addition to the price advantage

It's at least 7 years since the Les Paul types changed. They were virtually replicas, like our Artist LP guitars, in AU. When did the pointy types change, advb ? The recent body changes were more recent, no more than a year or so. For several years, the EX-76 had a reverse strat type headstock. (I found an old post of mine from 2019 where I commented on that headstock.) The V also had a PRS style headstock at that point. It may be that these headstock changes were introduced when the LP types were changed. The bodies remained fairly faithful to the original. In 2020 or 2021, the headstock on both models were changed. So for a couple of production runs, both the headstock and bodies were close replicas and then the bodies changed to their current versions.
