Hey, guys! My first post here. I've got several Harley Bentons: HB-35 plus, a JB-75MN SB Vintage Series bass and a classical guitar. All of them are quite nice. I recently bought another guitar, a SC-1000 Progressive Line and, when I pulled it out of the box, I noticed some wood flour. One of the strap buttons was unscrewed. Easy fix. Yet, the wood seemed quite soft. So, I opened the pandora box, I mean, the cavities from the back. I noticed that the guitar is made of 8-9 thin layers of what seems to be plywood. But, only the front seems to be plywood, the rest of them are some sort of a medium density fiberboard. On the Harley Beton site and thomann, specs say> Body: Mahogany body with arched top (Entandrophragma cylindricum, Indonesian mahogany/Sapele). Is this a "feature" of the newer guitars? The old ones have the same plywood construction? Can someone check their guitar? To be frank, I feel kinda deceived... Pictures here

Hi doctorblue . From what I can see you are confusing router machining marks with plywood. The router which shapes out the cavities cannot do it in one big mouthful but in stages. You're just seeing the levels of that routing process. Don't feel kinda deceived - not by that anyway! I'll second that. It does look a bit rough in places, especially on the tight curves. But not that bad really. I have an old squier SE strat which I think must have been gnawed out by rats, terrible routing, lots of wood filler too. Once the covers/scratch plate is on it doesn't offend the eye. If you want to be sure, sand back a small section of paint. Hopefully you'll find wood grain, and not mdf or ply.

The answer from thomann: Hello,
Thank you for contacting us.
We are sorry to hear of the problem with your purchase.
We confirm that you have received a solid wood product.
Please note that these layers are made by the CNC roughing tool that performed the cut and are not different layers of wood glued together.
If you are not satisfied with the instrument, we can arrange to return it for a refund.
In case you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards
