I guess because of the interest of the baritone playin' crowd , keeping the JA Baritone in stock has been problematic !
I got interested in a baritone, when I got interested in trying riffs ( notice I say "trying" AS opposed to "playing") in down tunings
Instead of altering a standard tuned guitar to go to "Drop D" ( not much of a problem) to go to Drop B ? which involves hanging a heaver low E string, and wackin on a nut ?
I though (always dangerous) Why not just get a guitar natively tuned to say B Standard, or even G ?)
So I copped a Gretsch 5260 Baritone. It was used by the Loathe guys, and did not cost much ($600 US). And Hey, its cool and a lot of fun.
I later copped a Squier Bass 6, and strung it as a Baritone tuned e to E , using a standard Baritone .0014 to -.0065 string set , subbing the Low E with a .0800 )
SO Why the JA Baritone
Well. I wanted to put P90's on the Gretsch. The standard mini humbuckers are cool, but being in a P90 state of crazyness, I though I'd cop a set of Seymour Duncan P90's and do the switch.
But then this JA Baritone jumps up ... With P90's standard !!! So for the cost of say Seymour Duncan Antiquities (which I'm not sure will sound better) I GET A WHOLE NEW COOL GUITAR !!!
Ordered it today, along with the E Bass Case (on Thomann's recommendation) so now I wait for it to arrive !
One thing I find as I go through this Guitar Journey ... As I learn more about stuff... I can spend less !
I started out buying only American made Fender & Gibson ... to now not caring where the thing originates, and copping great product, at very cool prices. Only the PRS Snobs argue with me on this ... as they are fine guitars, (perhaps better than fine) ... BUT Great guitars can be had for far less ...
