Hi all, I just received an SC Custom 2 in vintage black, and the matte finish of the guitar is very slippery. Both on the body and the back of the neck, it makes the guitar almost have neck dive. Will the finish wear in? Anything I can put on it to give it a more tacky finish like a poly coating would have?
The guitar plays well. The first thing I did was oil the fretboard and change the strings.
The stock pickups aren't bad, but could have more bite. I may change the bridge pickup to something else. The coil taps hum in the middle position which means it wasn't wired so the coils cancel out.
The edge of the body digs into my forearm in a nice way. I'm used to my strat and SG. The control placement is perfect.
I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the yellow binding around the body and the headstock. The pictures showed a color closer to white. But the neck heel is very good for a LP style guitar and the belly cut is nice as well.
