just had to do it ................... I know HB guitars are the very best value for money ... but I have an itch to build a guitar from bits ... I know it will end up costing me much more than a HB and I will not see a financial return, but I'll satisfy a need that I've had for a while ... anyway got almost all the parts now so I thought I'd post a pickie of day one ...... Plan is for a series/paralell switching just to see how they sound. Pickups are Vanson '57 Alnico II Chrome PAF style Humbucker - so a bit different from Wilkinson's, so it will be interesting to see just how they sound ... Body will be died American Walnut and clear varnished... Different neck - I suppose a little like a PRS? mmmm maybe...maybe not .... Anyway as I said - I go this itch that must be scratched .......................

No worries, and thanks for your input... The neck fits absolutely spot on with a very tight fit - perhaps the angle of the photo isn't showing it to the best ...... the pick guard needs a little fettling to get the pick ups in - just a small relief in the middle to allow the spring/bolt to pass through the hole and reposition the 4 corner mounting screw holes... in fact that's my task this morning .... Never built a guitar before so value any advice - so please feel free to offer and support ...... I'll post pickies as we go ....................... Cheers

Here you go ... got the pick ups in and just put body/neck/pickguard together to see the fit ..... Ooooh, that pickguard looks scarily close to the bottom edge. Does it fit? I was just thinking how nice it was all looking and then, zoink!

Must agree so I will be doing something about that - out come my set of French curves That screw hole is annoyingly just where you'd like the new shape to be. You would think that it would be easier to copy these things accurately than to make up some new dimensions, wouldn't you? Still, perhaps they're thinking of the legal costs! Still, it's going to look a little beauty when it's all sorted. Good luck and happy fettlin'

Glad it's all working out for you, You might get away with trimming the pickguard under the neck , hence moving the pickguard 5-6 mm forward, thats if switch / pickups etc allow you to move.
Do you mind me asking where you got the neck? I presume its 25.5 scale and a tele heel ?
Its going to look super cool when you finish it

I wondered about that but thought the pickguard looked alarmingly close to the upper shoulder and the neck access cutout at the other end! Eek. It's a tight one alright.
