Hello all, what type of acoustic strings are you using? I know I should really have asked this first, but I have bought Martin bronze 10-47.
Opinions welcome.
Brian.

Hello Brian, I've used elixir strings on a couple of my acoustics. They sound very loud and twangy and keep fresh for ages. I find they suit the larger guitar best. Other than that, I think most are daddario ej16. Let us know what you think of the Martin's though.

Restrung guitar this evening & I must say I'm very happy with the result. They took very little stretching & sound really bright & clear. The original strings that I removed had coloured knobby end thingies, would it be fair to assume the guitar came fitted with D'Addario's?

I use Elixir Polyweb Acoustic Guitar Strings, 11-52, 11025, Custom Light. There not inexpensive but have a pretty long life span.

I think you could be right, I think those colored ends probably mean they're daddarios, Thomman seem to put them on everything as standard.

The guitar is an Adam Black S-5, I bought it a couple of years ago for my wife to learn, but she gave up, so now it's mine. Its a great guitar, when I went to a local music shop to buy, the guy in the shop played a few for me & it sounded the best by far, really bright & loud. Really good value at the time too.

My 12 string is an Adam Black . Bloody amazing guitars for the price . Ive had mine for 6 yrs and sounds better as its opened up . Believe this or not but I searched for two years for the perfect 12er and tried Taylors , Martins , Guilds And some mid priced Seagulls , Takamines etc... I was working at the time so had cash to burn . We walked into our local shop and I was trying out a Simon & Patric , when the guy asked if Id heard of Adam Black and that he had a 12er on sale . I replied that I had as they were getting rave reviews in the press at that time . He brings this thing out and as soon as Id started playing I fell in love . My wife said it was the best Id played and she bought it for me along with a hard case so its rather special .

Quick update folks. The unwound strings are starting to tarnish already, even though I've played the guitar very little, the D'Addario's on my TE-40 are like new after 2 months of pretty constant use. Couldn't recommend the Martins, I think I will give Elixir a go.
Glad you like your 12 string derek, I will be after one shortly, with a bit of luck, but will likely be an HBD200, purely because of the price.
