OK I need answers. Back in the mists of time when everything was standard and every company with a drill & saw were making Fender & Gibson copies for the working man, who came up with the notion of making basses into a sonic art form? Back then I had a lousy Hondo Rickenbacker copy in what I can only describe as Salmon burst, the middle was the same colour as a skin colored plaster fading through to a cheap can of tuna. It was in effect pink. Years later I found Warwick. I was in love. The finish, oiled wood, deep grain, industrial metal parts that looked like they could haul a ship to dock, high contrast. It was witchcraft. At the time in a choice between a Warwick & Stevie Nicks, obviously if she was in stock, Stevie would have been disappointed, or not but hey ho, her loss. I've never owned a Warwick or anything remotely similar and probably never will, but I've been a closet bass lover since, hiding my affliction from the 6 stringed world. The thing is, as much as I love my guitars and play every day, badly, I find it hard to get excited about them visually. Don't get me wrong, I do look and get kinda gooey, but I'm pretty dull and to me only the classic shapes still work, throw in some BC Rich shapes and I'm not a lover, even the Dean headstock puts me off buying what is probably a fine guitar, but I cant get the images of a finely crafted bass out of my mind. I found this Watson this morning & I want to lick it all over. Do I need help Dr?

My affliction is worsening. I've been on a bass forum.
