Hi Has anyone compared the HB 35 to the Epiphone ES339 Pro? thinking of getting the HB 35 plus & maybe the CTS24 as both are cheaper than 1 Epiphone am also making a LP kit..will post fotos later..will have all new electronics & 12 diff sounds when I'm done... was impressed by the neck..just a bit of fret work & now its perfect..for such a cheap price so I think maybe other HB are OK as well

I have the CST-24HB and CST-24T - I did look at the 330 pro - almost bought it, but I have two Epiphones - Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro and a Blueshawk, and whilst I love 'em both and would not sell them on... I must say the sound the almost standard ( just changed the tuners for Wilkinsons) CST-24HB is easily as good if not better than the Les Paul and with the price difference it was no contest.... The CST-24T came which different pickups and I found them not to my taste, so changed them for a pair of Vanson '57 Alnico II PAF style Zebra Humbuckers and these have transformed the tone ..... Vanson '57 Alnico II PAF style HumbuckersOf course the Blueshawk has wonderful P90's so one cannot compare..... For my money I will always look to Harley Benton first ......... you should as well... if you don't like it send it back ......

It'd be great if HB made a 'HB-39' to match the size of the ES339. A smaller bodied 335 can surely not make any difference to the sound...can it? Not according to Gibson/Epiphone

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Not according to Gibson/Epiphone That would be good news. Dragging my 335 round the house is like being a student inter-railer with a rucksack on. 'Ow!' 'Oops sorry.' Mind you we have learned this week to take no notice of what Gibson have to say on their website after the "'mini humbucker' is a Firebird humbucker" debacle. Still not changed it despite admitting it was totally wrong.

I have several Epiphones and they're good guitars, but having now received some Harley Bentons (I receive guitars like some girls my age receive kids) they are also very good. For the price Harley Bentons are definitely better! I would definitely go for the 2 Harley Bentons DefJef: *correction, 35

Just being noisy

Apols for reviving a stale thread if there's a preferred alternative location. Do Harley Benton make an ES339 clone yet? I couldn't find one, but thought to crosscheck with you all here. Does anyone by any other name? Aware of Epiphone's offerings of course. Local best street is a ridiculous AUD$800 for a 339 Pro in my neck of the woods. A little cheaper importing from Thomann, but special order (wait) only availability. And Ibanez's Artcore. e.g. AS93 is also just stupid money here in AU. No intention of paying a bloated AUD$1k for the Ibanez name. Cort's 2019 catalogue is sadly void of hollow bodies in comparison with previous years, i.e. "Yorktown" only, and of course, Yamaha don't make one. What's a poor man to do?

I own myself a CST24HB and a ES335 clone ( not HB ), and it is ok, because the 335 sounds classical, whereas the CST24HB is more modern - a terrific effect platform -. Incredible quality of the CST24HB once upgraded with a pair of Duesenberg pups I think that having a CST24HB and a ES339 like would be a waiste : too much similar semi-hollows with solid-body size.
But If you're looking for one guitar that could eventually do the job of these two, check the €piphone Wildkat, this guitar is over understimated and not expensive for an €piphone
I could easily make this Wildkat the 5th hollow guitar of my collection
Yes it can
The resonance of the body counts a lot in the sound signature of the guitar
I own 4 hollow & semi hollow guitars :
- CST24HB : semi hollow solid body size. She's the one that sounds the closer to a solid body, yet warmer and rounder
- ES335 clone : semi hollow ... no more description necessary I think - Casino : full hollow 335 size and P90 : think Beattles, Gary Clark Jr, Rover ....
- Swingster : full hollow jazz box size with a huge rockabilly v8 engine in it ... Gretsch spirit, but not Gretsch copy
=> they all sound very different be it plugged or unplugged. Showing more contrast than between any solidbody

Just like the Wildkat, this a deeply chambered mahogany body and an alder or "pine" top with F holes. But the wildkat body is biggeer, between the CST and the 335. The CST is as comfortable to play as a Stratoscaster type with a thiner neck, almost as wide as the Fender thing
