Exactly DefJef. Or like rockbadger said, some wood that's usually reserved for basses. Bass manufacturers know proper wood.

Ugh. Sorry, that's just my intense dislike for LPJ's. Plus, that particular stain makes it look like low quality 80s home furniture. Something more like the body of this one (though 'no thanks' to the headstock):

Never seen a reverse headstock that I liked, let alone a Parker Fly. There was a post on reddit the other day - which guitars do you dislike - and if you like one that someone else doesn't, tell them why they're great. I see zero appeal in reverse headstocks. Ditto white guitars with gold hardware. But then again, some people hate flat thin necks or maple tops. They're all wrong though.

I like reversed headstocks :-) No you don't. You just think you do.

Not interested unless they do a lefthanded model. Also, I don't like the blingy top, the purple pup covers, the locking tuners (unnecessary) , the bolt on neck, and the fiddly strat type extra switch. I don't like the headstock either. But P90 neck and HB bridge is a great combo. I pretty much agree. I'm not really a big fan of blingy veneer tops. It sure looks expensive but I'd rather have the real wood even though it will look worse. The color combination is also terrible. The locking tuners seems like a waste of money as well. Better spend the money on best for the money pickups and bridge/tremolo. On the other hand this isn't my signature guitar. Henning seems to like it which I suppose is the point. I know I won't be buying it though.

Now that the fanned fret seven string is up my interest in this has waned. And I agree with some of those points and was hoping they'd be fixed for the production model.
But veneers are still real wood. And they look so much better than two/three piece bare wood finishes. I love a natural finish if there's either a very pretty or mega-weird wood underneath. But multiple pieces of cheap wood is yuck.

But multiple pieces of cheap wood is yuck. I won't argue against that. I still have a personal dislike of veneer. Hiding ugly wood with paint is okay. It doesn't pretend to be anything fancy. Veneer on the other hand does exactly that. I guess that it would be cheaper to match two pieces of basic wood than to cover it with a some fancy veneer. As long as the joint is centered and aligned with the neck it doesn't even have to be perfectly matched in my oppinion. I suppose though that the majority shares your view on veneer. It'll give you the look of something very expensive for a fraction of the price.

I feel differently. You sure can change pickups and tuners and knobs but if the guitar body is ugly you can't do much. I like veneers. The quilted maple on me TE-90 is gorgeous. Makes wanna grab the axe and play every day. And the pups are good too ... and the tuners also ... actually the whole package is just fine and dandy We can't generalize here since we talk personal taste. We sure can share our feelings tho. And about "better pickups" ... also personal taste or cultural conditioning. Seems to me EU folk tend to like warmer pups while U.S. Folks prefer harsher , higher output sounding pickups.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Thank goodness we're all different. That's what makes collaboration so interesting. And what makes it frustrating. It's a more fertile ground though isn't it. For every veneered guitar I turn down that's one more for the veneer lovers to yoink out of the pile. For every Surf Green thinline tele with maple fingerboard and mother of toilet seat scratchplate that gets balked at that's one more that I can pick up cheaply. Hooray.
