Morning bluesshoe. Definitely a clunk just as I release the trem. And not always. Annoying! Thanks for doing the research. This is great! Crikey, I've no idea what is all over my Soundcloud page. It tends to be a place to dump various works in progress as I share mixes, ideas, proposals and developments between other guys here on the forum, particularly @chedapapa but others too. salteedog 's done some keyboards, JAC some bass, MartinB some EBow, freoguitar an epic guitar solo and gullum some drumming, bass and mandolin (must ask him if he's up for a devilish violin solo). Anything else is me prodding a keyboard or a bass or a guitar or stretching my larynx. It's a truly international project. There's probably loads of unfinished and rejected stuff up there but it's a very useful service to use. I really must go and take a look and do a bit of spring cleaning and try to just leave the finished stuff. You must join us too if you have any ideas you would like to progress or would like to join in on. The 'stages and studios' section of this forum is the place to head to see what is being and has been done. I have a fondness for the way this project developed from one theme by @chedapapa to a complex and powerful barnstormer. https%3A//soundcloud.com/defjef-973274447/tribes-no-more-final-mix-hooraAnd I'm also very pleased that a single idea to capture that fun and excitement of a youthful camper van holiday sort of worked with this piece of nonsense that took one of @chedapapa 's melancholy Dm ideas and ripped it apart! Sorry Che! https%3A//soundcloud.com/defjef-973274447/life-in-the-slow-lane-7Glad you liked what you heard though. I try to keep things interesting as I have an allergy to boredom. Based in Barry near Cardiff, South Wales where I write and record and perform with GoodByePolarBears. I love it.

the creaking sound can also come form to much tension on the spring, this can easily happen when theres no locking button. and people just screw it to the max. added to that that the cheaper copies of this vibrato often don't have a knife edge at the pivoting point. instead thy have a stampt plate that has two edge, that in combination with to much tension makes the vibrato pivot on these two edges. this can be addressed by modifying it to a knifes edge and adding a very smal amount of grease, the correct amount of grease should barely be noticeable. as for the locking button, theres no need to by the whole vibrato system. the button can be found on fleabay, as a did by adding it to my squire jazzmaster. you just need to make the slot in the base plate and bob's your uncle

tarn is correct (Good Morning tarn by the way) the vibrato does pivot on these two edges. I just don't know if i would modify it to a knifes edge, because if that goes wrong you'd need a new unit. I would try it first with some thin self adhesive rubber tape, or neoprene were these edges are going in. But don't listen to me, because i'm an old dude who has two left hands when it comes to metal work. DefJef I like those two tracks a LOT! The vocals on the second one are really good too. What are you guys using to record these tracks? Are you all owning similar equipment? Since 2005 i am Mac based, so Garageband was my tool for the track you have heard. I see, Barry is a port and ship building town at the Bristol channel. I do live in Bremen, Germany, that is a port and ship building town too: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bremen

bluesshoe. It seems we always like somebody else's voice. Yours was sounding great on your tracks and I love the oh-so-cool European vowel sounds JUST noticeable. Great productions too. We'd love your input. Oh and I just noticed I name checked Tom Petty in 'Slow Lane' - just to prove I wasn't jumping on a bandwagon. I use Sony Acid, Soundforge and (occasionally) Vegas cos it has a simple sound stretching facility, for everything. I started years ago with Cakewalk but it was severely limited. I grew to know my way around Acid so well that I'm loathe to switch to anything else. My band partner uses Cubase and I'll use it now and again but usually I'll end up saying, "Christ, this would be so much quicker in Acid!" before having a strop and deciding that putting the kettle on is the better course of action than falling out over a BLOODY machine. Everybody else uses whatever they have at their disposal to upload their parts and I'm then like the little shoemaker stitching everything together in a comfortable way so that it doesn't pinch when we run. Yes Barry used to have a fine tradition of docking and coal export, really built to get around the excruciating tariffs that Cardiff docks used to charge for the coal barons to export their coal around the world. It became massively active through the late 19th and early twentieth centuries but these days it's little more than a tiny container hub. Very few ships come and go so it's gradually being turned into a boring housing development whilst, bizarrely, attempting to make itself more attractive to homeowners by constructing an incineration plant across their waterside views. It's the talk of the town. Better luck Bremen.

I love shopping for groceries on a Saturday... Ok, here we are... Thank you for that nice welcome @chedapapa! I already saw that you found my second demo-track. I'm happy that you like it. If you read in my first few comments you'll find out that i took a long break from playing guitar. That second demo was a way for me to keep sketch down some of my ideas, without depending on the guitar so much. I really dig the tracks that you guys made. Really cool stuff! #twothumbsup Since a short time i'm back at training guitar and my voice again, so i may like to put some salt & pepper to the soup you guys are cooking. DefJef The funny thing is, back when i played in different bands i was a singer most of the time, but i never got to the point were i really liked my own voice. So you are surely right with that it seems we always like somebody else's voice more than our own. Anyway, i'm happy that you do like my voice, even those tracks have been recorded years ago. By the way, i don't know anything about "production". I've just used Garageband ( a DAW software that comes free with every Mac) in a similar way i used my old Tascam Portastudio (except the bouncing of tracks) and i did mix it in a way that it would sound good on my cars sound system. If i look at some of todays apps for the iPad or for Android tablets, i'm always amazed by how far advanced they are to any old Portastudio... I already did a small research, but here seem to be no Sony Acid for the Mac. So i would have to find a way to export the tracks into a format that you are able to use. Anyway, first comes the training to get my music abilities back on track again, then i can think about joining the creative process of you guys. Bremen seems to be similar to Barry in many ways. All the big ship building companies went broke, except one that is still building ships for the military. About 8000 people lost their jobs back in these days. Most of the commercial harbour in Bremen has been shut down and relocated to "Bremerhaven", a town located about 35 miles up north, that is a part of the district of Bremen. The only three good things that happened for Bremen in the last 3 decades have been, that Airbus does construction and development here running more than 3100 jobs, our University is one of the best in Northern-Germany and Mercedes Benz has about 13.000 jobs running on a space of about 1.662.426,9 square yards.

As I suspected, I realise now that I could use anything that costs a few pence as a trem lock rather than those rather expensive (plus postage from the USA) parts. I'll be checking my DIY bins later! yes you can use whatever you won't but its the hight of this bush thats important so to get the balance right. ones this type of vibrato is adjusted correctly in conjunction with the nut and floating bridge its close to a khaler or floyd rose. i can do(heavy) pull downs and pull ups on mine and it comes back in tune every time. no parasite noises any where. theres no need to put tape on the lever to hold it in you just need to(carefully) pinch the slotted nut on the bottom, but you have to pull the vibrato off for this.

Yeah I'll pull all of this conversation together and create a new thread for it in the Stages and Studios section once my day long headache goes away. I'm interested to hear a different take on my usual vocal. I guess I just get bored hearing myself. I seem to be having a crisis of confidence at the moment. Even live I'm sick of hearing myself. EDIT Here's the link to it now (Ibuprofen works wonders for me): Grain of Salt
