It doesn't come up with much on search engines. I reckon it's an environmental cover up and it's really ivory boiled in dolphin tears.

Mine has arrived three months ago. It plays well and also the setting is simply perfect as the tremolo (much better in front of my jag and I don't know how can it be possibile considering its cost). Considering my first guitar is broken I've put a seymour duncan hot rails in the bridge position and now it's versatile as hell <3

While I was thinking to get MS-60 they changed to Roseacer fretboard. At least for VW model. Not sure what to do right now... I ordered a vintage white one last september and it arrived a couple weeks later, was advertised as rosewood fretboard but definately looks like burnt/ dyed maple as the wood grain is wrong looking. Doesnt really bother me as i bought it to modify. ive put in a dimarzio super distortion from the 1970's into the bridge position and took the stock bridge pup and put it into the neck position. I had to remove a fair bit of wood from the body to fit the humbucker but there is plenty of room under the scratchplate. i cut up the original scratchplate to fit a mustang control plate but not so happy with the fit so i will buy a fender one some day. all in all it tok about a couple of hours to do. sorry no pictures as i had flu and wanted something to take my mind off feeling crappy and pictures would be too much like the day job!!

A good bit of lemon oil (not honestly sure if it's the best thing or not) should have the fingerboard come up a treat

Cheers MartinB, i gave it a dose of lemon oil alright but what looks wrong is the woodgrain. It does not look like any rosewood fretboards i already have but looks like a maple ont that got dyed.

Damn! This is all your fault!!! After reading this thread, i HAD TO order myself a Harley Benton MS-60 VW LTD Edition... This will be my first Harley Benton guitar and I'm already curious to see how good that thing is.

Hi Guys. Now i do own a beautiful Harley Benton MS-60 VW LTD Edition for about two weeks, the honeymoon phase is over. It is a beautiful guitar and it is pretty well made. I was surprised that the painting is done perfect. The Wilkinson Pickups are really amazing! What a pair of great sounding pickups! For home practicing I got myself a new Fender Mustang GT40 and the MS-60 is a great fit for that. But with a clear view i have to say, that the tuning-heads, the string trees and the bridge are pretty bad. And while changing the strings yesterday to set of 10th, i found out that one of the neck-screws has no grip at all. So i ordered myself a replica Mustang Bridge, a set of Kluson Locking Tuners, two Roller String Trees and some Fender Neck Screws. The Fender Neck Screws are thicker in diameter, so they should make a tight fit. All together it cost me about 60 Euros. Let's see how all of that will make a difference...

Hi DefJef , From picking up my first guitar i owned quite a few expensive ones. About two decades ago i sold them all. Because of the loss of the fine motor skills of my hands, after a surgery on both of my shoulders, i thought i would never pick up a guitar again. About a month ago the bug bit me again. But i was not sure enough i would keep doing it, to take the "risk" of buying an original expensive Fender or even a Squier. To be honest, i still do feel lucky that everything else on that MS-60 VW is made so well. All the woodwork, the painting, the fretwork, the pickups, even the Tremolo... I really like all of that. It's just the tuning-heads, the string trees and the bridge that i have a problem with. I think 60 Euros, or even up to 100 Euros would not be a big investment, if that is bringing the overall quality and usability up a notch. We are still talking about a guitar that still costs way below 200 Euros. If you look what the cost of similar Squier Jaguars or Jazzmaster are, then we are already in the range of about 400 Euro. Have you had the Tremolo/Vibrato removed completely to check the mechanics below for that clunk noise? I found something about the original Fender here ( offset.guitars/the-goodies/setting-up-the-tremolo-system/ ) and here: The Tremolo on the MS-60 is just missing the locking knob, but anything else should be the same. I guess you could put some thin self adhesive rubber tape, or neoprene in the crease were the blade is going into, but i don't know if the tremolo would be still be free - floating the same way. Oh, and sorry if my English is not so good...

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Your English is perfect bluesshoe, in fact I just assumed you were British. Shame you're having trouble with your tuners but, if they are causing you grief, out they must go. I rarely have trouble with tuners except these sort of pressed steel things they stick on cheap Epiphones. I have two guitars with these and they are soon to be replaced with something light. You shoulder surgery tale sounds gruesome and just gave me shudders at the thought of not being able to play a guitar for even a day. I did have the trem apart when I first got the guitar but didn't notice anything untoward but I'll check out that video and see if it reveals my problem. Thanks for that. Very helpful. I hope you stick around this forum for more story-sharing and nonsense. Plus, I like your hat. Elvis Costello vibe!

Thank you DefJef, then all those years in the German school system did work... at least a little. But to be honest, my English is very rusty and i use Google translate quite a lot. The tuners on my MS-60 do have a rough turn and they are very imprecise. I have used Klusons before and i think they will do the job perfectly. I have "experienced" these cheap Epiphone tuners too and they are really nasty. It's like they are made out of the same soft metal, cheap tools are made of. Once i had a wire cutter that was softer than the steel wire that i wanted to cut... One of the best things about the MS-60 VW is the scale! The only guitar I haven't sold is Seagull S6 acoustic guitar. But i still have problem playing it, because of the wide neck and the scale. The neck of the MS-60 is really tiny and slim and i manage to do the spider walk on each string pretty well. Let's see what the future brings... I still have an Harley Benton ST‑57DG on my Ebay watchlist... Nonsense is good. We should never forget to laugh at least once a day. Have a nice evening.
