I plan to get a small bodied one to use in alternate tunings so the mahagony or Harley Benton CLF-200 WN might be the way to go for that I got this one too, RW version, and I use it for exactly the same way, for alternate tunings. For the better sound I tuned it half step up when playing in open D or G. But I'm playing alone, not with band. www.dropbox.com/s/n6etb3uw5hmqz8r/CLD-200.jpg?dl=0

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

here's a great video:
Sounds like a lovely parlour should - there are a few more videos on youtube - seems quite loud for a parlour too

Not to my knowledge no. I think Cory Mura had the old model, pre-walnut.

Has anybody got the walnut versions of these guitars As mentioned in a previous post, I just bought both of these guitars (CLF-200 WN and CLD-41S WN) in walnut this past weekend. Other than the previously mentioned frustrations with fret buzz, the sound on both are amazing. Clearly the CLF-200 doesn't have a great deal of low end, but its not supposed to. But, it DOES have a great overall sound and the volume is kind of unreal for the size. Please note also, the tuners are terrible. Hopefully some graphite on the nut will help with that. As for the CLD-41S WN...i would not agree that the walnut takes away significantly from the low end. The dreadnought shape handles most of that and the tone wood will not take it away. The walnut does though add some balance to the tone and gives a bump to the mid and higher end. I think it has plenty of low end and the volume is also pretty outstanding.

I think walnut is probably as close to rosewood as you can get - for glassy overtones and loudness. They back and sides ate laminate and I think someone mentioned before that they thought it was a photo of the wood - the same thing that Martin does on it's HPL models which is like formica with a photo of mahogany or rosewood layered over the top. I think easyrider also said that his luthier claimed the middle layer was walnut on the original rosewood model. There is an arguement that the back and sides don't matter that much because your body is in close contact whereas the top needs to vibrate and sikta spruce does that really well. Didn't a well-renowned luthier build a guitar with a high quality top and paper machier back and sides to demonstrate this? It would be good if @chedapapa and me or easyrider could compare our CLD41S guitars side by side. I don't think we'd hear much difference.

Is the albalone real on these guitars or is that awful vinyl the Chinese use on their D45 copies

The abalone looks real although I'm more concerned with sound than looks so haven't studied it at any great length. My CLD41 looks great though after the top has darkened down.
