I know of at least 4 stores in the UK that stock Chapman guitars and it's a completely different business model. Rob's line is extra revenue based on his YT popularity
Some folks here place more importance on HB than Thomann. Out of 99296 products 1500 are Harley Benton, just over 1.5%.
Chapman have to guess popularity and order stock based on that, then they have to get stock out to the dealers. When folks enter stores to try guitars if there's no Chapman in stock chances are they may buy another brand and no money goes to Chapman. Similar case at Thomann but say no TE-7,chances are the guitarist just buys another brand. Thomann still gets a sale.
These are 2 completely different business models. Think of it in terms of supermarket own brands. You want to buy coffee and like Dewe Egbert, one week there's no Egberts so you buy the own brand but the following week Egberts is back. The supermarket still gets a sale
My first experience with Thomann had no connection to YT or any web reviews. I heard the name Thomann mentioned in regard to good prices. When I viewed the site I saw the HB basses, had no idea they were own brand. My memories of budget basses were Kays,Encores,Satellite etc and on a whim I bought a £76 PB-50. This was only to see what a modern day £76 budget bass was like.
