A bit of insulation tape on the crocodile clips DefJef should prevent any extra difference to the circuit.

Is that a treble bleed circuit or just a different tone cap value that you need.

Crocodile clips would definitely seem to be the best solution for this. However I can't help thinking they are going to add resistance to the whole party too. They are and they won't, at least nothing significant in the face of the hundreds of KOhm involved. Wire and clip resistance is nowhere near these values and nothing to worry about. I don't like the crocodile bit, though…

You know how we are all told that we need to use just the right gauge hooking up wire so as not to adversely affect our tone. Sounds like complete nonsense to me.

what now?! To insulate the clips from shorting against other parts do you mean? I was thinking more the actual resistance of the metal in the crocodile clips themselves. You know how we are all told that we need to use just the right gauge hooking up wire so as not to adversely affect our tone. Doesn't a couple of great lumpy croc clips just throw all of that out of the window? I don't expect my ears will hear the difference mind you! I have some small crocodile clips without leads that I use for testing caps etc. I put tape over the teeth so only the legs are (in theory) in contact with pot lugs. This is OK for guitars with rear cavities, for a strat I attached double ended leads with Croc clips. I wish I had taken photos now. I didn't think it was worth showing as treble bleeds are a tiny mod and probably been done to death on here.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Yet we are all told how bell wire will not give such good tone. I have it in one of my tele's and I love it! Even Paul Reed Smith has a switch on his new 'Paul's Guitar' model pickups that sends the signal through about 4 more inches of wire to somehow change the pickups voicing! I mean...really?!

The only wire you should be worried about is that meter long cable that goes to the amplifier. If the isolation between hot and ground is too thin, its capacitance works as a tone control. The other enemy is bad soldering. I wonder how consciously Paul Reed Smith has decided to extort money from the gullible. They will believe and buy anything.

Jesus LeoThunder you must be a contortionist or partially deaf a 1 metre cable! I use 3 or 5 metre cables but they are good quality cables.

There's no need to be careful about gauge. Even those vintage cloth wrapped wires only make a difference in terms of how easy or difficult they are to work with. Of course it's a totally different story for intenselycalm and his valve amp wiring where one wouldn't want an inadvertent melt-down - both physical and emotional

I meant the size of cables is measured in metres, as opposed to much less for the inside wiring of a guitar. I doubt a 3 m bedroom cable makes any difference but longer stage cables will if they are cheap.

Chill leo I was just attempting some humour 😁 I didn't really think you played 0.5 of a metre infront of the amp!
